Replace glass in greenhouse with plastic

I simply looked up polycarbonate greenhouse panels and that was the cheapest that popped up on Amazon. Not suggesting it is the best but you need to decide the thickness and use google. There are firms that will cut it to size.

We need 24"x24 x8mm the cheapest I have found are about £18 each x 48 plus the triangles. A lot of money.
My research said 8mm for all year round, of course this depends on where you live

What about safety glass? Had that in my greenhouse and it just breaks into little bits not sharp shards.

Just googled “polycarbonate greenhouse”. Prices look reasonable.

If it is a working greenhouse you are aiming for I recommend polycarbonate but if appearance is important, and you are prepared to use shading paint in summer and line with bubble wrap in winter then a clear product will work.
I don’t remember it being excessively expensive.

Yes indeed. Aesthetically it is far less smart but the plants don’t get scorched by the sun, there is less condensation and far less maintenance. Mine has been up for quarter of a century. Not looking great but works wonderfully. We have replaced a few panels on the sunny side which turned yellow and brittle and (because it is on a very windy site) added extra support bars.

It was the polycarbonate sheets I checked and they came out at approx £20 per 2'x2' x2mm. Over £1000 for a small greenhouse.I had no idea that plastic could be so expensive.

I assume you have this product in your greenhouse to know the advantages.

I can’t help with a supplier but want to say that the channel polycarbonate sheets are far, far better than glass. Warmer in winter, cooler in summer. I would never consider glass or clear plastic.
