I use the cider Vinegar and washing up liquid trap and today have caught nine in it. I've just thrown out my lovely Christmas cactus and pot as I'm sure that's where they were coming from.

Sticky fly paper comes in packs of 4 and 8 it's a little roll. Careful pulling it out it is very sticky . Works a treat when I had a problem with them in my shower room they couldn't resist it.

Oh Grandmabatty I have the same problem. I've cleaned everything with disinfectant and bleach but they stil seem to appear from nowhere. I have three old christmas cacti on the windowsill so shall have a good look at those. The little blighters are so small that they go through the tiny holes in the fly swat.30 minutes ago I wound some wide parcel tape sticky side up round the fly swat and I'm hoping that might work.
If not I may have to say farewell to my Christmas cacti and replace them in due course.

I've had a bit of a fruit fly problem in my kitchen. I've put bleach down the sink, soda crystals too. Every surface is cleaned and I've removed all fruit from worktops. I think they are hatching out on the soil of a christmas cactus I have had for years. Is the only resort to throw the plant out?
