What to do hole in granite worktop

If you get a plumber to enlarge the hole you'll still have a surplus hole. A decent Plumber will certainly have a diamond core bit to make the hole. He may not want to do it but that doesn't mean no Plumber can.

Since my first question things have changed.
Our first problem was there was a hole to fill in the granite.
Since them we have found out that a mono tap requires a larger hole.
The problem is the hole for a mono tap needs to be larger, the two pipe taps have smaller holes.
We cannot now make it any larger as it's a granite worktop.
I have spoken to the granite worktop manufacturers and the holes for the taps are drilled at the factory.
Plumbers don't have the tools required to make the hole larger.
It's logical when you think about it, it needs to be a larger hole for the three pipes to go into it.

I'd look at the taps as katek suggested. Two feeds one mixer. Measure between pipe centres and then you know what will fit!

We have just had an Insinkerator tap fitted for boiling water and it is amazing. Being able to make a hot drink immediately is revolutionary and the good thing is they are not too expensive, so you could fit one of those in the spare hole. Good luck.

Go back to two taps would be my advice!

There are some very nice mixer taps on the market - has your daughter looked at these? Gives you pretty much the look of a single tap but with double feed.

Thanks so much everyone yes the soap dispenser is an idea but not sure if there is room for the bottle. The sink is a double Belfast with little room underneath. Trying to get someone to have a look is ny impossible.
Today I found out----The major problem now which we hadn't realised a mono tap needs a larger hole than the double pipe tap. The tap is fitted in a granite worktop, the plumber told me you need special tools to make the hole larger he couldn't do it.
I've spoken to granite manufacturers the holes are drilled at the factory when the worktops are made. I don't think there is a solution to this. My daughter as bought the mono tap it will need to go back.

Go to a search engine (like Google) and type in "chrome blank for tap hole" You will find plenty of them, for less than £5 each.

We have just had this problem, where our hot water /filtered drinking water tap has been removed we now have a flat circular chrome filler. (Have replaced with one all singing / dancing Quooker Tap)

I'm sorry, a bit confused here - is it you or your daughter's kitchen? Or do you live together?

If it were my kitchen I'd prefer to just keep two taps. Or if it had to go, I'd maybe fit a water filter as someone else suggested.
I think other than a cap to match the monotap all filling will look like filler, personally.

If you are determined to fill, why not measure the hole and, assuming it's regular, see if a granite specialist will cut you a disk/square to glue in with clear epoxy resin?

You could add a soap dispenser. The pump bit sits above the hole and the tube is fed down through the hole and into a large bottle of soap/detergent which sits in the cupboard under the sink.

You could try this, and there are lots of others.

Could you glue a piece of plastic or wood under the worktop to block the base of the hole, then fill it, paint it and varnish it?

Or cover it with a blanking grommet?

I've tried the kitchen companies who fit granite but they didn't have an answer for me. It's not a chip it's a hole where the tap was fitted.
We don't have any granite worktop manufacturers near us.
I've done lots of research.

SpringyChicken is right, there are specialist companies who can repair chips and cracks in granite and marble worktop and fire surrounds. Have a search for one in your area via Google.
