Rubber Brooms - How have I only just discovered these?

Being the proud possessor of a fine thick head of hair I always seem to leave some wherever I go. Short, long, makes no difference. I saw these mentioned in an old thread, so invested 15 quid in this. It’s fantastic! Quick swish over bedroom carpet picked up ‘enough to stuff a cushion’ as my mother used to say ? A follow up with the vacuum cleaner, job done, no matted up hair clogging up the rollers on the vac.

I'm sorry I didn't have one of those. I've got a practically new hoover stuck in the cupboard waiting for a new belt because of my hair clogging it.

I love my rubber hand broom , saves getting the vacuum out for stairs for a start, brushing the door mats. It must be lockdown getting to me getting so about a hand broom.

I've had one for a few years, brilliant for gathering up pet hair.

Get both!

I can’t stop myself, as soon as something is discussed on here, off I go to order one! Thing is, do I want a telescopic handle or a solid one? Also do I want a tall broom or a hand held as we are in a bungalow?

Is it a sign of the times we are all enthusing over rubber brooms or are we just saddos?

I had never heard of rubber brushes until I was watching Filthy House SOS last Wednesday (Ch 5, 8pm, either 2 Dec or more likely 25 Nov) and the cleaning guy showed the lady how quick and easy it was to clean the stairs with one of these brushes. Now I have read all your rave reviews I will definitely be searching B&M or Home Bargains to find one - or I could ask Santa ?. Thanks for your helpful comments.

Moonlight113. This is the most exciting thing that’s happened in my life for months. Sad, isn’t it? I’m glad it seems to have helped others too grin

Greciangirl I got mine from Amazon. Loads of places sell them - B&M, Lakeland, Home Bargains to name a few.

I had one some years ago when I had a hairy black dog and a pale blue carpet. Obviously the two were not an ideal match but the broom was amazing

One of the last places I saw them was at a garden centre Greciangirl. One of those that have nearly everything except plants lol, lots of furniture and tools etc.

SO wish I could get up some enthusiasm for a broom. Can't.

Wilkinson’s website don’t seem to stock rubber brooms.
Any more ideas where to buy one. Anyone?

Greciangirl Tue 08-Dec-20 17:03:15

Where can I buy these products please?
Preferably from a shop.

HootyMcOwlface Tue 08-Dec-20 15:29:19

jaylucy an extension lead is your friend, and cheaper than another vacuum. I got a wind up one from Tesco for about £6.

I've got a DH who sheds white hair wherever he goes - must get one.

NannyC2 Tue 08-Dec-20 14:36:06

Sounds brilliant. Would have been useful when I had my dogs as I was forever hoovering!

Riggie Tue 08-Dec-20 13:53:29

Mu new one arrived yesterday! I was already a convert but only had a handbrush, so this will be easier!!

schnackie Tue 08-Dec-20 12:10:43

Thanks so much for sharing! I have long blonde/grey hair that falls out too much and will be buying one of these!!

Phloembundle Tue 08-Dec-20 12:05:52

We have the broom and the brush.

Alexa Tue 08-Dec-20 11:55:19

What good ideas around rubber brooms. Initial sweep with a rubber broom can let you clean a carpet with a small light vacuum cleaner instead of investing in an expensive heavy to handle one.

Thanks for this great tip flowers
But if it works I lose one of my excuses for not getting another dog ...

Brilliant tip just what I have been looking for, I am constantly blocking the roller on my Dyson. Just ordered one My Christmas present to myself. LOL
