Cleaning round a pudding bowl wash basin

Ah, yes, I see Ellianne - and mine is flush with the top of the unit, where yours has a bit of a stand as it were. Ours is annoying as the tap is badly sited, so splashes water everywhere when turned on as it hits the plug hole! I like the look of it though and I’m always one for form over function

Thanks Lisagran. You must have your smaller cut out just around the plug hole then? My circumference where it joins the unit is the size of a small dinner plate. The bowl is fixed but the underneath rim collects the dirt. I dare say I'll stop being so fussy in a few weeks. Just wouldn't recommend one.

I have a very similar basin. Slips off to inspect it. Slips back to the thread. No, sorry, no tips for you - mine just gets the occasional wipe with a wet J cloth - not much in my house is ‘pristine’ , but we’ve all survived! Good luck!

What about the SonicScrubber brushes? I use mine for round taps and plugs. The small headed one should do around the basin. Mine came from Lakeland but you probably can get them on A****n

I don't have one of those basins, but an equally hard thing to keep pristine is where the taps are set into the porcelain, and round the plughole. I spray it with Mr Muscle, then use one of those gathered tulle snowball things that were very popular in bathrooms a wee while ago. It cleans into corners and scours grubby places without scratching. I finish with a slosh of water to rinse the basin off.

Thank you. I'm 90% pleased with the result. I found an old toothbrush and a soft cloth and managed to get them underneath it. Strangely there was no silicone to clean as the bowl just fits into or onto the glossy unit?

If you can fond the window track cleaners I'd be interested HAZBEEN.

How about one of those very thin brushes for cleaning window tracks? You can get them on Amazon, I bought them for doing inside our UPVC window frames. I will see if I can find a link.

We have those in our bathrooms. I use an old toothbrush.

An electric toothbrush but remember to change the head!

Thanks I'll hoover up the mess when it's dry. The yucky rim bit is the problem, build up of grime I reckon. A toothbrush might reach, why didn't I think of that? Maybe a cotton bud or the cloth if I can attach them to the end of a stick to get right in there.
Yes it seemed like a good idea at the time and it irritates me. Too late now!

Use a hairdryer to blow the soil away when dry.
Clean with a toothpick brush that you use inbetween your teeth.

It’d be interesting to ask the designer how they intended it to be cleaned! Looks like a classic case of form over function, so I hope you find a way. The cotton bud suggestion above sounds good. Slightly dampen it first to pick up the dry bits?

A piece of Magic cleaner should do the trick. Look on Amazon for prices and see if you can buy locally. I cannot remember the full name for it but it is like a piece of white sort of sponge.

A toothbrush might do the trick, then reserve it for cleaning the basin.

Cotton buds can be used to clean most things too.

Let it dry and then use a small, clean brush to move the bits of soil our from under the rim. Use a vacuum attachment to suck up the debris.
