8 as you do when the job takes you and then to be easier wrt facilities as a widow in later life. I can see another move in years to come, Daughters get on so well and will be living closer when the dgc have finished school. either s wales or the lake district. I loved both areas when I lived there and will go near where they go

Next time I will be sure to have good easy access to a train station

In the meantime, I do a bit of de-cluttering when I think of it and keep my house well maintained without spending much money on it. Most of my furniture is now light oak and modular, either ercol or Danish-type, all with a view to fitting into anywhere

Ten, I think. Forty years in my last house, now in a retirement flat.

If you count all our Army quarters, 11. Longest stay was in our first house after DH retired from the Army. We were there 31 years. We’ve been in this house coming up for thirteen years.

First move from grans house inner city to outskirts four years old. Lived with my family until I was 26 to a flat nearby for 1 yr to save up for first house.
Moved about five miles away to first house didn’t settle well stayed there just 4 yrs. When my son was about 6 months old moved back near my parents I was homesick.
Stayed there about ten yrs moved ten minutes away to a house with room for my two growing children. We have been here about 24 yrs don’t expect to move again I had five moves in all that’s enough for me.

20 times, 11 years in this house (I’m 61). I envy people who live their lives in roughly the same area as they always have. Moving schools and having few friends has done me no favours. But I now live in a lovely town, not where I want to be, but it’s very pleasant so I can’t really complain.

About 25, both here and abroad.

12, many when I was small and we moved around for work reasons. Now happily settled here in the county I regard as home, though it is neither my birth nor my childhood place, just where I feel I belong. May move house again but not county or country.

I know it’s an old thread, but anyway

3 before 18, about 30 as an adult, counting my boat as one, although I lived in several places on her.

Definitely one more planned in the near future, and there may be at least one after that if my husband dies while I am still healthy and mobile, which now seems more likely than ever, as I would move abroad again then.

13 proper moves. All within Devon.
With a few bits of sofa surfing in between.

21 moves, think this will be last one but then I always say "never say never". I actually like moving house and moving to different Counties.

8 plus 1 working abroad probably 1 more move.
Whoop! I'm almost average for a change

Misery2077 Wed 24-Feb-21 20:54:18

I've moved three times during the whole time. But our city is not that big, so I probably won't go anywhere) The most difficult thing for me has always been to work with carriers like www.upmove.com.au/removalists/gold-coast . I understand that everything is online, but I am glad that they are now doing everything for you. And packed and transported. Moreover, at my age, I already can't run with boxes much.
