Was just reading in a mag, that most people move 11 times in their lifetime, counted mine and it’s 9 , anticipate one more move downsizing( married Twice )

27 and 15 of them while still a child. Dad was in the army so we moved around with him and then I joined the RAF.

I have lived in this house for 27 years and hope never to have to move.

17 times including 2 moves when we lived in Spain one was a rental and then bought a villa.
This bungalow is my last move near enough back where I started.

8 - can’t live in this one forever though, the fuel bills will be impossible on a pension!

28 but I might have missed one or two when I was little.

Forces background.

28 that I can remember, possibly more.

10 - 13 including some small moves. There could be one more before it's wooden box time!

Since birth, 11, but very thankful to say, no moves since 1987.

We have only moved twice! Once when we got married, then 3 years later we moved into the house we still live in. We've been here just over 41 years. The house was built in 1930 and although it is 90 years old, it has only had one other family live here - they bought the house when it was first built, then sold it to us when they were in their 80s (and we were only 23). We have renovated and added extensions to it over the years, and have never wanted to move. The neighbours are lovely and the area is lovely; can't see us moving, unless we become infirm and need to move to a bungalow or sheltered accommodation.

11 in terms of permanent addresses; 15 including educational establishments and a year abroad. First one was only for two weeks before we were bombed out.

31 times in 63 years!
Exciting changes but very settled now.

Katek Since posting I've realised that in Singapore we actually lived in 3 houses in 3 years, and in Germany in 2 houses in 3 years grin

I have four brothers and whereas I got itchy feet and could never settle down they have all remained close to my parents. I loved the moving around, I remember when my father decided to leave the RAF having a real screaming paddy - we were supposed to be leaving for Cyprus and instead the whole family ended up squeezed in with the grandparents while my father looked for a job. Much as I loved it and I think it did make me more resilient and less likely to sweat the small stuff I have always envied people who have real roots, and friends they have known forever.

If you count our various Army quarters, twelve! Not sure yet if this house will be the last - I fancy not!

Twelve. I’m not including long-term projects living and working in other countries, as my home remained wherever Mr. B was.

16, most of these as a child. Like Barmeyoldbat, I had a father whose job meant regular moves. My last two moved took place in a two mile radius, first to buy a house with my husband so moved a Mike down the road. Then almost 30 years ago, we moved a mile up the road with our three children assorted dogs, cats and rabbits. We are still in that home - our girls live locally, after my nomadic childhood, it’s bliss

27, an RAF dad as well and I caught the wandering bug when I left home but since I married I have only moved 4 times.

Blondiescot

Oh dear, am I the only one who still lives in the same house from birth? As my grandson currently lives with us, that makes five generations of my family who have lived here. And I love that...

I would love that too, Blondiescot. After 13 moves, it has been lovely for me to be able to put down roots where I am at the moment. For many years I felt rootless.

Until I was married, I lived in the same house that I was born in (home birth). After marriage, moved 5 times. Been here on my own, since 2008

patcaf Sat 23-Jan-21 17:50:39

19 times. Never been in a house more than 7 years. Current house is 3 years and we are thinking we can get another two moves in before we settle. We are 68.

Pittcity Sat 23-Jan-21 11:14:34

About to move for the 4th time next month. I did move before I was born (in utero), does that count?

ALT57 Sat 23-Jan-21 11:08:06

7 times

Grandmabatty Sat 23-Jan-21 11:05:51

16 times. This last move is to a bungalow and I don't anticipate having to move again.

Trisha57 Sat 23-Jan-21 10:44:53

Only 4 times.

Lovetopaint037 Sat 23-Jan-21 10:34:51

8 times but am old.

emmasnan Sat 23-Jan-21 10:28:44

16 I think. Most when married as husband in forces.
