Help calm me. House buying and selling stress

Happy home-owning day Shandy! I’ve been following this thread for the past year and am cheering you on today! What a rollercoaster you’ve been on! Wishing you peace and happiness in your new home. ?

Whiff, they started vaccinating a few weeks ago but there has been an issue with the supply since Italy, France and the EU refused to send us the agreed quantity of vaccines. We are in the second tier, the first was people in aged care, health workers and those over 80 oh and the obligatory politician for advertising purposes.

There probably will not be a real issue with supply as in a couple of weeks the AZ vaccine will be manufactured at a couple of locations here. Also given that we have no new cases in Australia at the moment it seems less urgent, that however, does not mean we can afford to become complacent.

Our move is tomorrow, so it's last packing and dismantling.
DH had fun unplumbing the washing machine last night. Luckily our neighbour had the requisite part to stop a flood. Somebody is collecting the machine this morning as I am getting a new one!!
DH does insist on doing it himself even though he has no aptitude for it.

My front garden

Shandy and Pittcity finally it's that day for you. Run round like a headless chicken day. Also like a cat on a hot tin roof waiting to hear completion has gone through and you can get the keys to your new homes.

I know your furniture won't move until tomorrow Shandy but hope you get your cat and delicates transported safely.

I hope both of you haven't got the high winds and heavy rain I've got here. My pavers have been working like demons since Monday and worked through all the heavy rain. Got some of the soak ways in but as quickly as they dug the trenches they filled with water. So had to give up. My back and front garden look like mud flats. But they will be beautiful when finished. They will be here again today.

Spice you have been very busy. At least this time having a new knee you know what to expect. And this time you can recover in your own home. If it's warm enough when you have it done you have your swimming pool. And quite sure your family will help you do the exercises.

Have they only just started vaccinating there? I would have thought you and Mr S would have been in one of the top with your health problems. My arm was sore yesterday but sleep fine and feeling ok so far. I had AZ. My brother and sister in law get theirs today.

Luckygirl hope the packing is going well. Be your turn soon.

Pittcity I did think you were being very optomistic having your husband pack things up. No doubt he is very competent but men just do not seem to think about the practicalities of the situation.

I changed most of my addresses online which made it much easier. I'm sure there are some I have forgotten and others that were not done online in some cases I need to re do as they have the spelling wrong.

It's been a busy couple of weeks since we moved. I've organized someone to do some minor alterations in the kitchen, had some garden things sorted out, quotes for electrical work, windows cleaned and organized someone to replace some of our blinds with plantation shutters.

No vaccination for us yet, our group should start around the 22nd. It will be interesting to see how it is organized.

I'm just back from seeing the orthopedic surgeon. Another knee replacement is needed. No surprise there although the x-ray I had done at Christmas time did not show significant deterioration. I need to have an MRI and go back to see him then decide when it will be done. Joy oh joy!

Thanks Whiff I'd forgotten my premium bonds - 2 x £1 worth from 1963 and 1965!

More people and companies than you think Pittcity. If you have premium bonds don't forget about them. I did . Mind you my parents brought 1958 when I was born £6. Has paid out twice in all that time both times £25.

One of my friends just had a sore arm and her husband did. Another friend had sore arm , chills ,aching muscles and headache. It's like everything else people react differently to the same thing. Just got a sore arm at the moment. But not doing anything all day. Glad your GP doing them not far to travel. I would have thought most places do everything via email . DVLA must be behind the times or it may be to do with fraud that's why you had to speak to them.

Thanks for telling us about the DVLA direct debit. I've just cancelled the instruction on my bank app and will set it up again when DVLA contact us. Seems weird that licence and log book can be done online but not DD.
We have come up against one company that needs proof of address in order to change it and one that needs you to come in or jump through password hoops on the phone. Didn't realise so many people had our address!!

Hope you are OK Whiff, my very healthy fit friend felt weak afterwards. My GP surgery will be doing them, they had to issue a statement after receiving hundreds of phone calls after people received the letter.

I've just waited 40 minutes to inform the DVLA of my address change for my direct debit. I don't understand why they will only accept this by phone, not sure how much credit I've got left now!

Shandy do you know if your GP surgery will be doing them. Mine isn't. Had mine done this morning at pharmacy 15 mins away. Made me laugh when I read the information leaflet. It was manufactured not far from where I live. Low carbon footprint.

My daughter recons I am immune as the amount of time I spent with them all then they all got it. But all my tests have been negative.

Exciting time this week with all the movers.

We have our vaccinations booked for Saturday, the day after we move. A good excuse to sit down and rest

DD2 was offered her jab yesterday, pity that she is unable to walk so I can’t see her getting it any time soon, unless they do house calls........

Good luck with your jab Whiff, everyone reacts differently, hope you are OK. I looked on line again last night, still 37 miles away for my nearest. I'm just going to wait for the gp.

Luckygirl that's sounds lovely. I had some beautiful mugs I only used for visitors. But after lockdown last year decide that was silly. So I use them for day to day. And love drinking out of them. Also decide never to keep anything for best again. It just means things don't get used.

It's raining hard but my pavers are still hard at work.

My daughter will be her soon my first jab today.

I think I will probably try and use it day-to-day, as suggested. I have lovely memories of it as my grandmother lived by the sea and I spent my summers there.

I always regret selling my Mum's willow pattern service, I've now got a horrible mish mash of odd plates. I'm going to treat myself once I've moved. Shame you are so far away Luckygirl!

Luckygirl why don’t you use the Dinner set for everyday use? It would be nice to remember your GM each day.

Luckygirl, is it worth asking your buyers if they want your Royal Doulton? You could also post it on Facebook marketplace but there's not much time to find anyone so close to your move so maybe best to keep it just now.

Have you asked your kids Luckygirl? If so and they don't want it, could you take it with you and donate on April 12 when the charity shops reopen?

I am still bashing on with packing, but am in a quandary about a Royal Doulton dinner service that was my Grandma's - it is beautiful, but so much of it and I have no room for it. It seems bad to get rid of it, but I do not use it at all. The dresser it is on will not come with me as I do not have room for it and my buyers said they would like it, so it is likely to finish up in a box in the shed, which seems a shame. Any ideas?

I have just gone to get a drink to find that DH has very helpfully packed all the glasses!!
