Such good news, Luckygirl, at long last something going right. Just need Shandy’s solicitor to come out of hibernation long enough to get her moved. Should be an interesting spring.

Delighted for you luckygirl. It’s been a long and difficult process. Good luck with the wretched rodent. Now to the packing smile.

Shandy- we intentionally bought a house with no chain due to the terms of our rental contract. Our sellers said they would move out and then look for a property. They haven't and we ended up in long chain. Our rental ends next week, EA asked our sellers and ones above if they would break chain to allow us to move in. They said no. We've had enough, so likely to pull plug ourselves in next day or two unless they all agree to move next week.

So pleased for you Luckygirl. Been a very long and difficult time for you.
I can remember when my house was on the market, and I was going out for the day, and the EA was going to bring several different people over. Fortunately, I decided to check the garage - a separate building at the back of the garden. Always had some problems with mice there, largely dealt with by one of those electronic things plugged in. Did also have some poison pellets down. So fortunate I checked that morning as there was the corpse of a rat in the middle of the floor there!!!!

Shandy just try to be patient, it is all happening now .

Kissngate - do hope you are wrong, but unfortunately, this does happen far too often to so many of us.

Shandy57 Tue 02-Mar-21 18:21:13

I meant to add thank you Framilode, it still seems like a dream. I hope I feel like that when I'm lugging the huge carpet shampooer up the stairs!

Shandy57 Tue 02-Mar-21 18:19:36

Congratulations Luckygirl! Onwards and upwards! Marvellous you sorted out your tenancy agreement so quickly and can move in.

As for my exchange I had suggested 4 March in an email that got lost in cyber space - perhaps that is my destined date.

Sorry you haven't exchanged yet kissngate, it's excruciating waiting isn't it. Not sure I understand what's happening to you - is your chain in danger of collapsing? I hope not.

Microwave has pinged, tea's ready!

Ellianne Tue 02-Mar-21 18:19:26

Congratulations Luckygirl. Fingers crossed that the removal man can oblige.
Rats? I could lend you my cats for a few days, they'd sort it.

Framilode Tue 02-Mar-21 18:12:03

I am so pleased for you Luckygirl, you have had such a tough time. I wish you happiness in your new home.

Shandy I am keeping my fingers crossed for you to exchange tomorrow. I have followed your story since the Mosaicwarts days.

Good luck ladies.

kissngate Tue 02-Mar-21 17:52:30

Shandy - We haven't exchanged and today found out persons up chain have started querying planning permissions on the house they are buying. Our solicitor thinks chain likely to break down anyway. Started packing stuff in rental. Hope you manage to exchange tomorrow.

midgey Tue 02-Mar-21 17:36:13

Oh wow luckygirl at last something has gone right!
Shandy fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Luckygirl Tue 02-Mar-21 17:20:14

I have exchanged!!!! I simply cannot believe this!!!!

Removers are now saying they do not know whether they can manage the completion date and will let me know at 8 tomorrow morning. Grrrr!

Just been putting down rat poison - no rats under decking in all the time we have been here, but one popped out to say hello this afternoon. I would not like them to be here to greet the new owners!

Shandy57 - I am so sorry yours has not happened today. I have everything crossed for you.

Shandy57 Tue 02-Mar-21 16:34:35

Still not exchanged .... tomorrow is another day!

Shandy57 Tue 02-Mar-21 14:16:39

ha ha Luckygirl, nearly choked on my tea!

Aldom Tue 02-Mar-21 12:43:00

Luckygirl Your 'piles' comment really made me laugh. Thank you! smile

midgey Tue 02-Mar-21 12:32:50

Oh do hope that you both exchange today. Good luck to you both. ???

Luckygirl Tue 02-Mar-21 12:06:18

Heavens - do not photograph your piles!! grin

I too am on tenterhooks as exchange should be today or tomorrow.

Good luck with yours Shandy57.

Shandy57 Tue 02-Mar-21 10:10:12

Thank you very much for the good wishes, how nice of you all, but it hasn't happened yet.

I gave my solicitor authority to exchange at 10 am.

He wrote back to me at 11.37 am saying he had contacted the vendor's solicitor and would let me know as soon as he could exchange.

I had assumed it would be yesterday and was on tenterhooks all day waiting to hear, and by 5.30 pm, realised it wasn't happening! I do know the office manager is working from home, perhaps it was transferring the deposit that caused the delay.

I've checked my emails and nothing so I'll just have to wait. I do have the buildings insurance in place already. If anyone's house insurance is due for renewal I got a great buildings/contents deal with Policy Expert, £98.00 for the year, including both emergency and legal assistance. I've been paying PaymentShield £20 per month in this rented cottage for contents only.

I have to list the packing in the kitchen today, I feel unsettled after a Gransnet posted about items lost in her move. I think I might photograph my 'piles' for extra evidence in case it's needed.

Enjoy your day smile

Marvellous news Shandy I have followed your journey from the beginning. So pleased for you.

Gagagran Mon 01-Mar-21 13:55:57

So pleased for you Shandy and wishing you every happiness in your new home.

You sound to be as well prepared for the move as you could be. All your boxes from the station, so far unpacked, will give you a few surprises when you do finally get round to unpacking them I bet!

Keep us posted on progress. We are all there with you in spirit, willing you on! flowers

Elusivebutterfly Mon 01-Mar-21 13:54:29
