House buying disappointment !

I need a someone to tell me how ridiculous I am being. My DD and SiL have just lost out on a ‘dream home’ by a few thousand - all very complicated as not mortgageable/no land registry/sitting tenant plus we were putting in a substantial loan until they got the mortgage. So we were very invested in it too! They are gutted - they saw this as a new start for them and their relationship after a hard year(though I admit doing up an old property would not be my idea of improving a relationship esp with a 3 year old!) I am feeling ridiculously upset and devastated myself - almost like it is my loss and I just don’t know how to get rid of this feeling and don’t understand why I’m feeling it ! Please help me see sense!

Your a mom. You are bound to feel upset. Your daughter and son in law were looking to forward to their new home. But take heart they will find a better home . My daughter and son in law found what they to thought was perfect house for them. Had buyer for their's but the vendors dragged their feet didn't even look for a new home. So they looked at a house which had just come on the market. Funny enough it was in their favourite road and they got it. The first house is still on the market. They moved into their new house last month. Are very happy. It's a beautiful house with plenty of space to extend which they intend to do. They have 2 under 5s.

Having small children doesn't mean that your daughter and son in law shouldn't take on a house that needs work. They just have to be organised.

Hope this has helped. ?

Thankyou ! Yes they will find somewhere I am sure. This was a quite small and dark place so in some ways glad they didn’t get it ! I think Om a bit oversensitised ( is that even a word) as youngest dd is also looking at houses. I’m getting house details every day! Plus we are thinking of moving ....... ?‍♀️?‍♀️

Im sure that you are all disappointed, but when you look at the problems including a sitting tenant, not mortgageable etc.maybe it was for the best.
I always think back to what would have been our dream home over 40 years ago, we lost out just for £100, which we just couldn’t find. But a few months later DH was offered a job in another part of the country so we wouldn’t have been able to stay there anyway, we still drive past it, tiny little place.....
Everything happens for a reason, I’m sure they will soon find their dream home, keep looking!
