Do you have fitted bedroom furniture?
Is it better than freestanding?
Did you use a national company?
I just need some help to decide if this is a good idea.

Why are years old threads still being shown. I have had to start looking at the dates of the postings before I answer them, it is ridiculous.

Gosh this is an old post going back to 2021.

I had fitted bedroom furniture built by the joiner who put my fitted kitchen in. My 50’s semi is suited to fitted, it gives me the storage I need and takes minimal space. In our old terrace, the rooms were huge and I had lovely old furniture but it was too big for this house

I have fitted wardarobes in main bedroom. A full wall inside wall, love them. I used a local company, worked out what I wanted and fitted them , lots of hanging and storage space. Much cheaper than a national company.

We bought a Dako wardrobe via Ebay last year and it had the ideal height option for our bedroom ceiling (the tallest Ikea one was too high, but we wanted something with plenty of high storage). It was a really good quality option, very solid.

Horses for courses eh?

How strange that this should pop up and that I should read it.!
I simply decided to keep my freestanding furniture but I am still thinking about it.

Local carpenter made ours , floor to ceiling, in both bedrooms. The one in our bedroom is on an outside wall, but there is an inner wall so we don't get condensation or mould. Wouldn't be without them.

Fitted wardrobes with folding doors in our bedroom. Sliding doors 3 with central mirror in guest room. Got local carpenter. Much cheaper!!! Only trouble is sliding doors now have so much clutter behind them 🙄😁

Yes we have fitted wardrobes in all of our bedrooms

I have double fitted wardrobes with sliding doors from Ikea in my bedroom and I love them. Plenty of hanging space, drawers long and short and adjustable shelves. They fit in an alcove with just enough space for narrow shelves to keep essential books.

Totally faye we’ve been so impressed with ours. 😊

Sliderobes
Lovely streamlined look to the room; calming in a bedroom especially.
Maximises every inch of space.

Fitted in all our bedrooms - oldest one 30 years and still functional and looking great.
The interiors are individually designed to meet customer's requirements
Expensive outlay but incomparable value for money.

We have fitted wardrobes in our bedroom which were made by a local company. Freestanding furniture would not have met our requirements and this company gave us more flexibility than anything offered by large fitted furniture companies. We have been delighted with them and they look exactly the same as when we bought them about 12 years ago. The same company did our kitchen, later.

Fitted wardrobes fitted by my husband in all bedrooms (and on outside walls). Bliss. Never had any problems in the 48 years I've lived here. Fronted by full mirrored fronts which makes each room seem gigantic and so full of light.

Urmstongran Sat 25-Feb-23 19:43:05

When we moved into our new-build apt here 12y ago we opted for fitted ‘Sliderobe’. We saw them first, loved the look of them and have been delighted with them ever since. One small nook, deep but has shelves behind the rails, shoe pull out and over time I’ve pinched the lion’s share. Happy Days!

Just musing.
I remember my mum and dad in the house we moved to with my sister, in the late 60’s, choosing ‘Schreiber’ free standing. They spent ages looking at the catalogue before choosing. After our rented terraced in Old Trafford, it seemed really posh! Aw.

Can anyone recommend a mirrored sliding door wardrobe please?

Slide wardrobes direct were brilliant for me. They emailed me to point out that I'd ordered two different colours, they were actually for two different rooms, but I was impressed that they took the time to check. They are really good quality and slide as well today as they did when installed five years ago. I had a local carpenter fit them and build the fittings inside.

What did you decide narg?
I see this is an lld thread?

I doubt if she is reading this very old thread 😄

We have fitted wardrobes in every bedroom - wouldn't be without them. Lots more storage than freestanding ones. Some of the wardrobes in our bedroom are on an outside wall, and never had any problems with condensation. We used local companies each time we had wardrobes fitted.

Exactly the same for us! I wouldn't go back to freestanding.

Fleurpepper Sat 25-Feb-23 19:22:49

It just depends on your house. In this old place, fitted wardrobes would not fit in well.

karmalady Sat 25-Feb-23 19:22:26

I have had fitted furniture twice, both well-known companies. I would say ok but that is all. Here I had a joiner build cupboards with shelves and hanging space in two bedooms. My room has moveable furniture and already had a wardrobe built-in

The joiner- built ones are the best and also the moveable units

All fitted furniture is/was on inside walls
