do you have a built in kitchen bin?

Yes and I HATE it. (It was already built into the kitchen when we took this house).

It’s space inefficient, harder to keep clean than a normal bin and as a result in hot weather is drastically more likely to... smell ripe.

You are also locked into whatever configuration of individual bins are inside it, which is a huge pain when separating trash for recycling. I have ended up with a teeny weeny segment for card/paper recycling when honestly I need a full size bin for that.

It has to be one of my top annoyances about my kitchen if not THE top one. Cannot recommend at all!

I have two bins , one in the island for food waste and one under the sink unit for general waste . Recycling goes straight to the garage into 3 separate bins , plastic/cans , glass and cardboard.

We have a pull out drawer with two large bins used for rubbish and plastic and two small bins for glass and tins.
We have a covered passageway between the kitchen and utility garage and we keep a paper box and a bin for cardboard - Dh buys lots from Amazon. The food waste box is on the kitchen counter next to the sink.

Thank you, it looks as though I'll keep the bins in the design and try to get the OH to be less messy!

My son works for a bespoke interior design company his wife did too they designed and he built my kitchen. It has built in bin sections I love it gone are the days of a stand up bin in the kitchen. We also have a built in dog bed but our pampered pooch rarely uses it as she is constantly at my DH side.

When we had our new kitchen fitted we chose a large pull out drawer which has two compartments, one for recyclables and one for non recyclables. We think it is excellent!

I have a pull-out bin with 2 large and two small containers. The two big ones are for black bin and green bin respectively, one of the small bins is food waste for the compost heap, and the other I put plastic film in.

Not sure why but when we are in France that can be recycled and when (ah, when?) we went to France I would take it with me to recycle there, otherwise it wne tin the black bin.

I also have a small pottery container on the drainer for food waste that cannot go on the compost heap. Most weeks this is empty.

Don't even have an unfitted bin.

I have a pull out drawer with two big built in bins. One for general waste and one for recycling. Works well for me. Food waste goes in a separate bin.

We have a large pull out drawer with three bins in it. I use one for general waste and one for recycling. The third is currently spare. For me it is one of the best features of the kitchen as I like to keep waste bins hidden from sight. It works well and I wouldn't be without it.

I have one in a cupboard which I use for paper. The food bin sits on the worktop near the sink and I have two other freestanding bins, one for general waste and one for general recycling. It was easier in the old days before we recycled!

Yes, two - one for recycling. They're not really that useful as they are quite small and anything big ends up being put in the utility room for recycling or in the bin in the garage. I suppose they stop bits and pieces being scattered around work surfaces.

We haven't really got anywhere to put a bin otherwise.

We didn’t have one when the new kitchen was installed last year. We have a kitchen bin for waste, a bowl outside the kitchen patio doors for compost and it’s about 5 steps outside to our recycling bin.

We have a built in bin under the sink for non-recyclable rubbish, it is very handy, then food waste goes in a small green bin on a shelf in a cupboard next door to it.

My daughter has a dual built in bin, one for recyclables, one for rubbish, with a food one on the counter. There is nowhere in my kitchen for a separate food bin, and I think they look bad, unless you polish them daily grin

I don't even have a kitchen bin, I just hang a bag on the drawer handle and put it in the wheelie bin when it's full.

A built-in bin is a waste of cupboard space , in my opinion. I have a small waste bin in the corner of the kitchen, which is emptied daily into the larger bin in the garage. The recycling stuff is taken to the containers, which are in the garage and accessed through my utility room. Easypeasy !!

We are having a new kitchen fitted in a few months and I'm not sure about having built in bins. The designer has suggested a cupboard with two bins.
At the moment the recycling is put in an old bowl in the utility room but my husband is not careful and things like orange water from a rinsed out bean tin stain it.
The other bin lid gets stained with tea from tea bags that he aims at it.
I'm beginning to think that I should use that cupboard for something else.
