Fan Vs air con unit

In the UK a good ceiling or sweep fan will suit most of us in hot weather both relatively cheap. In hot climates a properly installed aircon unit with an outdoor cooling unit is far more efficient than a portable.

Portable air conditioning unit for me makes a great difference. I put it on a couple of hours before going to bed and it really chills the room down and makes it feel more comfortable.

I bought a Dyson fan a couple of years ago as our south facing sitting room turns into an oven in sunny weather. It can be set to be static or to sweep the room. The intensity of the 'blow' can be varied to suit. It certainly chills like air conditioning. I'm glad I have it.

We’ve bought a chiller unit after reading so many reviews of air con units and chillers it made my head hurt. Cheaper than stand alone air con. It was £140.
