Lid On/ Flatten Bottle.

Why does it say on my squash bottle (recycling instructions)
‘Lid On/Flatten Bottle’, but on the side of the council’s recycling lorry the instructions are to ‘Remove Lids’?

Plus, it is more difficult to flatten the bottle with the lid on. The air can't escape.
