Sofa sizes

I am planning to buy two new sofas. I have seen a style I like but am unsure of sizes. There are several sizes in the range and my room is big enough for the one that is 202cm long and 102cm deep. I am concerned though that it will not go through the doorway which is a standard size ((198x76cm). Do I need to get the smaller sofa which is 189cm long so it will go in on its end? My last house had a bigger doorway so not had this problem before.
Thank you for any advice.

If you are buying from an independent furniture retailer they will happily come to the house and do a survey for you.

Some of them come apart so that you can get them in, and then fit them together on site.

It’s surprising how sofas can get through doorways especially with cushions and feet removed. As someone else has said too, modern ones come apart, I’d check with the shop x

It’s a good point to get it checked, we bought two new sofas fairly recently, and for that very reason got one a normal size and one a bit smaller,( the normal size came apart).
It’s not just door width to check, it’s how much room to turn the sofa.
We once bought a large wardrobe and the firm that made them came out the check the stairs ( there was a ‘dog leg’ bend)
He approved it and later the men delivered it....and failed to get it up the stairs, it had to be dismantled in the hall, carried upstairs and re-assembled.DH nearly died laughing.

Thanks for your responses. It is Marks & Spencer and the assistant in store suggested buying one short enough to go through the door upright but she is not an expert. Legs and cushions come off.
I'm not aware of any independent furniture retailers any more.
