If the tile grout needs a scrup, put a bit of bleach in a mug and rub it on using an old toothbrush.

Soda crystals and Fairy liquid in a bucket of hot water cleans almost anything and it's fine for tiles.

Read the label on the sugar soap for what is actually in the brand you buy. The alkali component is (UK) normally sodium carbonate or less commonly sodium hydroxide, or (USA) trisodium phosphate. There is no sugar! It is called that because that is what the dry mix looks like. before the liquid is added. It is sold in B&Q or similar places for degreasing surfaces prior to painting. Wear rubber gloves, it goes for your hands.

Elbow Grease spray, spray and leave on for a few minutes then wipe off. Marvellous stuff use it on everything from very dirty socks, stained tea towels, paintwork, etc. non corrosive and the smell does not catch in the back of the throat like many other cleaners. B and M have it but have not seen it in the other big supermarkets around here.

I am not clear. Are the white tile splashbacks painted. I have never found tiles difficult to keep clean, just a cloth and hotwater.

If they are very dirty, hot soapy water, a cloth and a kitchen scourer.

Mr Muscle kitchen cleaner should work. Anything that removes grease and grime. Don’t use anything corrosive as it might affect the surface of the tiles. I agree that sugar soap is good.

Do you have, or know someone who has a wallpaper steamer.
They work wonders on this type of cleaning.

Sugar soap can now be bought as a liquid. Years ago it used to be in powder form which you had to mix yourself. Best thing for getting rid of grease without harming the surfaces. Was traditionally used to clean paintwork prior to painting. When you think of open fires and how many people smoked in the home, sugar soap was really needed.

Just back to say that I had not heard of sugar soap as an actual product , although I remember my dad using real sugar and washing up liquid to clean greasy hands after changing our bike chains .

Definitely the product to use by the look of it .

Agree with Shandy, try sugar Soap. I think oven cleaner would be a bit harsh.

Would sugar soap work?

Thought it was about files on computer. Would the oven cleaner not take the shine off? I'm sure Lakeland would have something for tiles. Our splash back (hob) is black glass and DH uses karcher on it and it seems to work.

You might want to ask GNHQ to change your title, I really thought you were getting out the rubber gloves to tackle a filing cabinet!
