Anyone got a heat pump?

We have oil central heating so no help for us! I am considering a heat recovery system but don’t want to hijack your thread anxiousgran so will start another one in a few days.

I believe next April the Government is giving subsidies of £5000 to those of us who need to change our gas boilers. From what I have read there should be a fairly high level of insulation in the house. I have no idea about the amount of disruption. I am very interested because my gas boiler is on its last legs.

Do any gransnetters have heat pumps?
What level of insulation did you need to have? Was it very disruptive having it installed and are you satisfied with it?
Was it very expensive and how do the running costs compare with gas?
Apologies if this has already been discussed.
