We have painted our old wood lounge furniture adding new handles and it looks so different and quite contemporary. Am a big fan of repainting old furniture.
My friend painted her kitchen cupboards and it looks great,

Depends on your budget, really and whether you want to bother with flat pack or buy ready built. I have always found Ikea furniture excellent. Clear instructions for flat packed and the finished product is robust and lasts a long time. I suppose like everything else you get what you pay for.

Shinamae I think the Cotswold company furniture is made by Devonshire Pine which is near me. Unfortunately their wardrobes are quite 'heavy' looking. but agree they are excellent quality. I do have a kitchen dresser made by them which looks lovely and has worn well. Thank you for the recommendation though, think we must live quite close from reading your other comments regarding the Long Call.

We bought John Lewis bedroom furniture because we could chose, 2 or 3 doors and different drawer combinations. They are very solid and look good, but they took a while to put together. Our problem was finding what we wanted in white, the "in" colour everywhere being grey of all shades.

I’ve just bought a sideboard and a tv unit from Cotswold company and I’m very happy with both. But I like wooden furniture .

Well after having flatpack for years and the disappointment that brings, this year I have had a bureau from the Cotswold company it was about £350 but well worth it would definitely recommend them

I think my bedroom is in need of a refurb, wardrobes and chest of drawers looking rather tired, like me. Have any of you lovely gransneters any recommendations where to buy some new furniture, have looked at various companies but am unsure of quality etc. and in my area there are not many furniture retailers to go and browse. In do not want built in wardrobes. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
