Have you bought any board games lately

Have had a look and I have thankfully bought the Family Edition of cards of humanity.

Genius square looks good, think I might dash out and buy.

I bought Genius Square last Christmas for two of my adult children and their partners, on the recommendation of Kitty Lester. Well I think it was Kitty.
They absolutely loved it.

This year I have bought my daughter, a version of Monopoly aimed at women. I haven't a clue, how it works!

Not actually board games,
Uno showdown (card game) and Blokus (strategy game) both recommended on Mumsnet christmas threads.
Luckily I was also able to buy both at quite a reduced price, again with the help of the Christmas threads on mumsnet.

Last year I bought the board game Ticket to Ride (mumsnet recommendation).
It was a present to ourselves, when it became apparent that a lockdown christmas was on the cards.

I have just bought 2 board games so I definitely hope they are good fun.
One is game of the year
Azul. The other is dragomino ? for younger DGC.

Lincslass whoops not sure which version I have bought, didn't even look, dd just said ohh GS wanted that (hes 15) I better check, bought it from Smyths so I'm presuming it's ok, but must have a look in the morning.

Rummikub is a fab game. Taught my grandsons 8 and 10 recently and I play it regularly with my oldie friends.

5 second rule and think its called cards against Humanity bit pricey at £29.00 so hope it's worth it.

Also new LOGO game but managed to pick a different version up in charity shop for £2.50 brand new.

Hopefully will get to play them, otherwise it will be solo dominos

I think the adult version of Cards against Humanity is pretty “cheeky” (you have been warned!), but the Family version is ok.

Can't bear Monopoly, but we got Monopoly Speed earlier this year, which is played in 10 minutes (there's a timer), as everyone rolls and buys at the same time. It is fast and furious and a lot of fun.

My 10 year old granddaughter regularly beats me at Cubeez, which is a card based game for four people. You have three blocks with facial features on each side, and you have to recreate the face shown on the card.

I've got the new edition of The Logo Game for this year, as we enjoyed the original one.

My husband has so many board games to choose from, that he will be in his shed for so long choosing which one we should play, that it will be New Year's Eve before he decides

Twist and Sprout bought this year. Something new to try out.

My local charity shop does an excellent trade in good condition swapped board games and so we've got most of them now. I've just bought Rummikub and Cluedo and played them with the GC this last week and, although not exactly a board game, we've got Twister to look forward to on Christmas Day

We all got hooked on Uno last year. Another absorbing family favourite is Ingenius once you can get your head round the scoring.

Have just heard that GD has Harry Potter Dobble. Quickly now removed from my bag of tricks for next Saturday! She might have thought Santa was goofy! They're also having HP versions of Cluedo and Pictionary so I look forward to lots of fun with those over this coming weekend. Think I'll have to brush up on the rules though. It's been a while!

I have bought Carcassonne for one family on the recommendation of the bookseller..I have another family or 2 to buy for so I am interested in your suggestions.

Rummikub is a fab game. Taught my grandsons 8 and 10 recently and I play it regularly with my oldie friends.

I can recommend the LOGO board game , it takes you back in time, looking at all the logos for sweets, food, etc , there are a few different version now.

The trouble I found was understanding the rules, but Gs sorted those out.

It's lovely going back to board games.

Dd has bought Kerplunk (from charity shop) almost new.

Oh I saw the Harry Potter version Maw I ended up with "Great Ormond" street one. I'm sure they all are pretty similar so will look forward to that as looks nice and simple (for me lol)

I have a couple of games for when AC and GC visit - restrictions allowing - and quite often the GC will bring their current favourite with them. No intention of buying more as I think they're overpriced but might try charity shops in the coming months.

My grandsons (11 and 10) adore Cards Against Humanity because it’s quite scatological - but very American so the allusions are not always clear, especially to me. But I find alcohol helps.
Labyrinth is also popular and Reversi (also known as Othello) each for two people.
Dobble is great of course because all ages can play . We particularly like the Harry Potter erosion.m
