Steam mops on Karndean flooring

I wasn't giving any advice on cleaning it, so I've always used a steam mop. I've had no issues and there's no sign of any lifting at all.

I keep the steam mop moving, and don't let it stand in one place, directing the heat/steam onto one area.

It suggests that you don't use a steam cleaner unless it is on a low setting and to only use it occasionally

Mine is the stick down one. Mop and bucket here with a squirt of Pledge. Works well.

NfkDumpling ours is the stick down one too - didn't even know there was a click one.

My Karndean has only been down since the end of the first lockdown and since there's only the two of us with no dogs, I've only ever had to give it a quick wipe around with a damp mop. A dribble of Flash is all I've ever used on it. I was also told not to use a steam cleaner but I assumed it was because ours is the stick down sort not the click fitted one, and it would upset the adhesive.

I use my steam cleaner on a Karndean floor in the kitchen. I don't use it often, and use the cooler setting and so far no problem. I've never used to cleaning stuff they left, or the coating stuff.

I use my Shark steamer on my Amtico floor on a light setting, as opposed to normal setting. So far so good.

I hadn’t realised that I wasn’t supposed to steam clean my Karndean so I have used my steam mop and have had no problems. I don’t let it stand in one place for long. I find that it’s good for quick clean but I also clean the floor with a mop if it seems very dirty and use the cleaner for a quick freshen up.

I was aware that Karndean did say not to use a steam mop. They also said to only use their own cleaning products. I have used their cleaner but have also used Flash spray on marks that have been hard to remove. It has been fine.

It makes me wonder if it is just a marketing thing.

I didn't want to go the the expense of buying a steam mop if it wasn't going to be suitable.

Was hoping to hear from someone who had tried one and what the result was

I was told never to use a steam mop on my karndean flooring. So old fashioned mop and bucket for me . Always looks lovely.

The chap who laid our karndean flooring told us that he has always steam cleaned his own with no unhappy outcome but I haven’t dared.

We have Karndean and were told to not use a steam cleaner. The fitter said to use a small amount of Stardrops so we bought a mop with a spray and use that lightly. I get down on my hands and knees if there are any marks left.

Their website says no to steam cleaning, whether that’s because their pushing their own cleaner, I’m not sure, I use a Flash power mop.

Same here PinkCosmos. I’ll bump your thread in the hope of some answers to help us both.
At the moment I do a light mop through as and when and get down on hands and knees for spills and stains.
