You are going to get what you pay for. If you need to function for you as a sofa and bed please look at companies that specialise in this sort of thing like these people for example, rather than buying off the high street

We have a sofa bed from M & S and it is sprung like a proper bed. I must admit it is 20 years old and as good as new but maybe they don't make them as well now.

Furniture village was next to the furniture outlet in Essex where we got our sofa bed and I remember the Italian one you mention hazbeen.
We wanted ours for our rarely used dining room and paid £450, much reduced, It’s only been used once so just as well we didn’t get the Italian one which was nice but well over our budget.

We bought a new sofa bed about 18 months ago. It was from Furniture Village and its an Italian make. It has a proper sprung mattress, comes in various sizes as well as a full double. All you do is pull it out from the back cushions and the whole thing unfolds, no pulling off cushions etc. Best one we have ever had! Mind you it should be for the price, it cost £2000! But I would definately recommend.

I had the same trouble because they were called double but were all too narrow fir two adults.
I took a tape measure with me when I went anywhere near shops and checked measurements and after much patience found a full double size sofabed with a decent depth mattress. It was a one off from a furniture clearance shop, so was lucky to find it. Think it was a Next make but can’t be sure now as it was about 3 years ago.

I want to buy a sofa bed. It needs to function well as both a sofa and a bed. So I'm looking for something which is comfortable as a standard sofa - doesn't need a pile of cushions to make it work - and which becomes a full size double bed.

Unfortunately what I've found so far are either fold out beds which are too narrow - 120cm is not comfortable for two normal adults; or IKEA type day beds which are too deep to be comfortable as sofas; or the type which have a sticky out chaise longue end which won't work in the room.

Has anyone recently bought one which would tick all my boxes? Not too worried about style, I'm handy with loose covers. Price, say, up to £600-ish.
