I’m thinking of buying my first shopping trolley, but I’m finding it difficult to choose from all the different styles. Can anyone recommend any types to buy or those to avoid?

Avoid tartan?

Have a look on Amazon then you can read the reviews and ask questions if you want to.

There are some great designs now since younger people are using them instead of driving to get shopping.

T K Max often has some so you test them out! Depends how much you want to ram in it I think as some shapes are more roomy than others.

There are some quite modern looking ones , I would look at wheel size, not to small as it needs be stable when full. Are you going to be lifting it or just pulling it ? As they are heavy when full so awkward to pick up to put in the boot of a car. Don't forget if it is really deep you have to bend down to get things out once you arrive home.

I have one for shopping locally its bright pink with black spots all over just has 2 wheels so folds flat in my out door shed.
Be careful with the bigger 4 wheeled ones they are heavy and difficult if you need to go on and off buses they block the isles if you can't get a front seat to store it when travelling.

I battled through the crowds at our farmers' market to say hello to a dalmatian sitting obediently alongside his mum. He turned out to be a spotty black and white shopping trolley. I felt very silly.

I've just been researching this for myself and have decided to buy a black Hoppa, 47ltr, lightweight from Amazon prime £19.99

This is my trolley. It's at least 8 years old, still going strong.
Easy to pull or push. Waterproof, with zipped pocket at the back. I bought it online.

Thanks to all for your thoughts. I’ll go for a two-wheeled version (and avoid tartan)!

How lovely! It would be worth getting a spotty trolley for this to happen!

I've been looking too, and wondered whether to opt for the three wheeler that is easy to get on the bus.

Inhave used wheeled shopping trolleys for some years. Mainly just the 2=wheel type. Before I moved to my flat I thought long and hard about how I would do shopping. Although I had a car, I needed to work out how to get my weekly shop from thecar upstairs to my flat..

Did a lot of research, and finally decided to go for a large 4-wheeled bag, that folded down when empty. When I had my car I found that I could not get this in the car upright when full. So used to do my shop with two large normal bags. Once back home, these bags were then put into this trolley for me to wheel upstairs.

No car now, on the occasions I go to the supermarket on the bus, this trolley is excellent, and I shop directly into it (using the zapper). Obviously on the way home I cannot fold this bag, but have never had any problems on my local bus. When I get home deliveries, I take this outside my front door and just put everything into it and then wheel into my kitchen.

It is very much and individual choice. In the past, the smaller ones were fine for me when going down a market. However, I find this bigger 4-wheeled one is far better and I can lean on it and use it as short term walking aid. It has a place in which I can place my folded walking stick. It has a cover, so when full of shopping can cover it all over.

It was quite pricey (around £80 three years ago, but I am very pleased with it. On the few occasions I have to take it up and down kerbs it goes over those with ease.
