Current house buying trend - bath or shower?

As has been said, preferably both. I have an en-suite shower an in my guest bathroom a bath with a good shower in it.

That is a flat. Think it is even more important in a house. Anyone with young children really does need a bath for them. Nothing like playtime in the bath as part of the getting ready for bed process.

I see many flat where both en-suite and guest bathroom have been turned into shower rooms. When I was flat hunting and saw one of these, I automatically added on the cost of having to have a bath re-installed. I need one for medical reasons.

Both. I wouldn’t buy a house without a bath.

We’ve just sold our house, which had a bath in both the main bathroom and the en suite, with showers over. So many people commented favourably on that, they loved it. I hadn’t even considered it to be a selling point but it was!

New builds locally still tend to have both. We have an ensuite with a shower, family bathroom with bath and shower over. I use the bath sometimes, more in the winter, I can get out fine without turning, MrJ never uses it.

Rip out and reinstall a bath if the new owner wanted to.

Showers for us, when we eventually get our new bathroom the bath is coming out and a huge walk in shower will be installed.

It would be very easy to rip out and install a bath if a new owner wanted too.

Both preferably However you can. Personally I have a downstairs shower room with large walk in shower. Upstairs we have an over bath shower with a power shower and bath to keep bathers happy.

Both. I wouldn’t buy a house that didn’t have the two. Shower for every day and in the mornings before you go out, bath to relax in. We have a small spa bath which we’ve had for years now and it is nice to read a book whilst relaxing in there. To get out of the bath these days I turn onto my knees first , stops you slipping over when you get old !

I hate a shower but to future proof my house when redoing the downstairs bathroom I changed it to a shower room. Upstairs is a proper bathroom.

If either of us eventually can't cope physically then the downstairs guestroom will become our bedroom and we will live downstairs full time.

For me: a shower every time. More economical, more environmentally friendly, easier to use as you get older and, personally, I don't feel as clean getting out of a bath as I do a shower.

I had to have my bath removed to make room for a shower as I could no longer get out of the bath and an over the bath shower, for me, was unsafe.

I am aware it may be more difficult to sell the house but I am hoping that will not be my problem! I will either be dead or ga-ga and the latter is more feasible.

Depends. People with young kids (or who may be planning them) prefer baths, I think, but would want, ideally, at least an over bath shower too.

Walk in-showers seem to be more trendy, and are probably more Ora to al for older people - but, having lived with one and no bath, I’d never do it again.

Just had a big shower put in, lovely. When we were house hunting almost every house we saw had at least one shower, some had two!!

A nice large walk in shower. The bath is only used if the grandkids come. They love splashing about in the bath..
