Grammaretto
Geranimum I think you must be brave to effectively retire to a new area. I don't think I would have the courage.
Won't you miss your friends?
Beverley and other towns sound lovely but wouldn't you be starting from scratch? Any amount of shops wouldn't make up for leaving somewhere I know intimately.
I'm widowed and eleven years ago I moved from the place I knew intimately. Although I retain friendships there, things have changed. People have died others have moved away. Shops have closed etc. Nothing stays the same. Through moving I am now only sixteen miles away from my daughter and her family, instead of a three hour drive. So much has happened in the eleven years which has made me so thankful for being near my family. I have also made a wonderful group of friends. I love my house and the small, convenient market town where I live. We have a good bus service and access to two railway stations, some distance away. I don't have any regrets about moving. It's all been positive. I admit, leaving all that was familiar was a bit sad at the time, but but there were too many plusses for it to hold me back. Communication is so easy these days, keeping in touch with old friends is easy. Making a new start can be a very positive experience. Go for it.
