I am considering replacing my kitchen worktop. It's laminate and after 7 years as dullness and marks in some areas.
I was wondering if anyone had bought an overlay worktop in quartz and could give me their experience having it installed and if it was serviceable. I have an inset sink and hob is there a problem refitting these appliances.

I have and it was certainly worth it. The company I used came out and measured up and made templates. They then made up the worktops whole and came back a couple of weeks later to fit - they slotted straight over the top of the old ones. They also made matching back edges that went about six inch up the tiled walls. All very effective and all done in half a day.

Do a fair bit of pricing around as the prices can vary quite a bit - good luck !

Thanks for your comments Spinnaker.
Did you have a sink and hob take out and refitted as mine need to be fitted on top of the worktop.

If we could afford it, we'd have Corian. DS has this and it's brilliant. Has survived 20 years and two children, & still looks good.
Hard-wearing, easy to care for, forgiving about scratches (which I understand can be carefully sandpapered "out") and long-lasting. Worth researching/considering? (I have no connections with the Corian company!)

jeanie - we had a sink and they fitted the worktop around it and then sealed it all. I have a free standing Rangemaster so that didn't need to be included. Hope you have some success smile
