Help. Washing machine leaving rust coloured marks but only on towels.

The washing machine is approx 18 months old.
In the past month every time I put the towels in with my load they come out
covered in rust coloured marks. Yet the white T-shirts or shirts even dishcloths or teatowels are not affected.
I have cleaned out the machine with cleaner and now trying soda crystals.
The filter is clear. The rubber seal is washed and dried after every wash.

Anyone know how to stop these marks. Can't keep replacing them.

“The rubber seal is washed and dried after every wash” - I’m really impressed Nanawind - I have no idea why there are rust marks on your washing. I can only think the drum is slightly, although they are always stainless steel.

Slightly rusted

Might the marks be caused by something on the towels which, when they’re washed, reacts with the detergent and turns orange? Some kind of body lotion or shampoo for instance that you’re using?

Have any old pipes been recently repaired - in your home, on your property, in your village leading to your home? Perhaps little bits of disturbed iron in the washer input pipes are settling into the towel surface and rusting?

I know I see something tiny/rusty when the pipes are mended - but we have very old pipes/ old home. I run the water until it clears, takes a good number of days as I only run water when needed for baths, cooking, washing.

Chlorohexidine or benzoyl peroxide left on towels ( spot cream, corsodyl or sanitizer) will leave marks like this if they come into contact with chorine ( in cleaning products or water?).
