I thought I was all sorted with my dual fuel. We fixed our tariff in June (quite a hike but we thought we were doing the right thing at the time) and when the government announced the help package, there were assurances on the OVO website that fixed rate tariffs would also be reduced.
Our standard daily charges and unit prices did indeed reduce this month but not by as much as I'd expected. I couldn't find any mention of OVO's variable tariff on the website so started an online chat with them this afternoon and asked if I was on the cheapest tariff - it turns out that I'm not. I'm being moved onto their Simply Energy tariff as from tomorrow and the early exit fees for exiting the fixed rate contract is waived.
Please don't assume that your energy company has given you the best deal just because your charges have been reduced. Check it out.
