Net Curtains

I have fabric wrapped verticals in my living room. Not a lot of companies offer them, but have a look around.

We have a west-facing room with a nice view, so I didn't want to block the view, but still needed to keep out the sun and offer some privacy. These were the answer - more expensive, but they don't clack around like regular blinds, and they just look like regular sheer curtains when closed, but not tilted, IYKWIM.

Vertical blinds were here when we moved and I really hate them but hate nets more! Anybody got any bright ideas on how to clean the d****d blinds? Please!!

I always said I would never have vertical blinds, until I was faced with a wall of window (12ft x 6ft 6inches) and facing south over an unoverlooked back garden.

Nets and curtains would have looked ridiculous in a kitchen, and anyway, we wanted the urestricted view of the garden. The window includes doors, so blinds were also out of the question. We had to have something as the sun coming in to the kitchen was blinding in summer.

I had to face up to the fact that the solution was vertical blinds. Drawn to the side and unobtrusive most of the time, but mediating excessive sunlight when required.

My clean white plain net curtains always look dull from outside my clean windows. Imagine what off-white might look like.

Vertical blinds are not to my taste, too institutional. I’d rather wash my nets.

Sheer and long panels look good. If you have to use nets, plain and very white ones look ok any other colour will just appear dirty and in need of a dip in Daz.

I had nets and curtains for years but when we did a house make over we changed to vertical blinds on all windows.No more taking down/washing/rehanging like before.

Smoking. Just joking of course, but when we helped with clearing out a friend's parent's home the nets, which looked a rather fetching colour of honey, were actually tobacco stained. Stiff as a board as well.

Search online, ebay or Amazon. get a sample first. I have just bought vertical blinds for a large window. Nowhere locally had the colour I wanted, so I went on line and kept getting samples until I found a company that did blinds in the colour I was looking for and ordered them that way.

All the companies I contacted did blinds and curtains of all kinds. I had a quick look on line and this was one company among many www.netcurtainsdirect.com/search/coloured-net-curtains

Whatever you do, don't opt for champagne as a shade.
My late mother paid a premium for hers and they looked nothing but grubby white from the outside.

I prefer sheer panels, but agree vertical blinds are much less easier especially when cleaning the windows.

Yes, I agree with FC, if you try to dye synthetic fabric it will just look dirty and dingy. Dunelm might have some coloured voiles too.

There are other designs too.
I spent a lot of time looking for them (Dunelm, JL, M&S etc) and I couldn’t find anything nicer.
I have a rubbish front outlook, so I need something across the window.
