Are you actually in Canada, or the UK?

I always sow Cosmos. Sowed Ammi last year - very useful in jugs of flowers. And pot marigolds, Nigella, sunflowers.

I love nigella, it grows anywhere, has lovely seed heads and seeds itself so you don’t have to do anything after the first year. Slugs don’t like it either. I’d also think about achillea, it comes in lots of colours, is a good filler for flower arrangements, and has pretty foliage.

Pot marigolds do well in most places.

I have a quite small bed for annuals, but hope to include some mid and late summer flowers for cutting.

I already have peonies, and plant sweet-peas in a large pot with trellis.

Any good suggestions? My climate is quite damp and we have slugs. Dalias were eaten before they could bloom.
