We are looking to move house and have seen a property in Prenton Birkenhead. We don't know that area at all and as there has been bad publicity in Birkenhead would welcome any advice.

Wenbo sorry don't know that area as I live on the other side of the water . Only thing I know about Birkenhead is my aunt was born there. Why don't you go for a few days and look around the area and see how you feel. I live in Merseyside but completely different part . But the people up here are wonderful and the health care I get here is excellent.

Have you set your heart on Prenton or are you open to other areas?

You would get more responses from the Facebook page of that area, however, the moaners are usually the loudest on any forum.

I agree with Whiff, spend a few days there, it is only you that knows what you want.

Thank you for replying. It's not so much the area as a property we've seen.

I lived in Prenton for 30 years until about 6 months ago. I have now moved to lovely Port Sunlight about five miles away.
Birkenhead town centre is quite downbeat and a bit rough like a lot of town centres. Having said that we rarely had the need to go into the town centre.
Prenton is a few miles away from the town centre and is mainly a pleasant residential area with some really nice houses. Wirral itself is a great area to live.
Lots of green spaces. Driving away from Prenton you are surrounded by countryside in a few minutes.
It’s a peninsula so obviously surrounded by water so 15 minutes in the car takes you to lovely seafront walks in West Kirby, Hoylake, New Brighton etc.
Transport links are good. It’s very easy to get to Liverpool and Chester. A few hours to the Lake District or Yorkshire and North Wales only an hour away.
If you would like to know more or want to ask anything specific please feel free to pm me.

Our business was on the Wirral and Cheesey just about covers it very well so I need not add to it. I have lots of connections there but never lived there. Being a Liverpudlian I haven’t lived there as I have been content where I am. I wish you well with your move it’s a fresh start and something to look forward to.

I was born in Liverpool and lived there til the mid 1980s. Prenton was always cited as a nice area and Cheesey has given you some more up to date information.

Location location location!
I would be wary of going for a house without knowing the area.
Mind you I did that myself and it worked out well but I was younger then and making friends was easy.
Good luck.

Good info from cheesy

I have relatives who live in various places on the wirral and one family specifically live in prenton. They all love it there and are forever putting photos up of the lovely scenery and good lifestyle. I would not hesitate in moving up there
