Could someone please recommend a reliable non toxic jewelry cleaner. I just purchased some Connoisseur fluid from Amazon and having read the label have thrown it away. Does anyone have an ultra sound for this - are the in expensive ones good? Its just from some silver items that have tarnished from lack of wear. Thank you.

Depending on what jewelry you are cleaning - if it's not really valuable stuff I usually soak mine briefly in water with a bit of washing up liquid (obviously not opals). Gentle brush with a soft toothbrush then a rinse and gently dry with microfibre cloth.

I just cleaned some silver with toothpaste - two of the rings were very tarnished from sitting in the back of the draw for years and they've come up really well.

I’ve used DD’s ultrasonic in the past - I think she got it from one of the shopping channels. It just used warm water, but my worry is that it might dislodge settings, especially pave set, although hers are ok as yet.
I’ve used the Connoisseur for both silver, gold and precious stones in the past - why have you thrown yours away BB?

I have a plate which is immersed in hot water with soda crystals then the silver is placed on top.
It should lift the tarnish but might need doing more than once if the tarnish is very bad.

I've heard that using tinfoil works too but havent tried it

Silver cleans well by immersing it in hot water with foil and baking soda added.

I use this method, but with washing soda, which gives the same result. My silver chains and charms come out sparkling, and it doesn't damage the surface at all.

Washing up liquid in warm water, the silver comes up very clean, then I dry it with a cloth.
