What size bed do you have Sue..? You probably need a king size or bigger. My dd has super super size and they have a double quilt each.

Oh yes, continental quilt! My PIL’s gave us one as part of our wedding present. We felt very modern in 1972.

The problems we’ve had so far with two quilts is that they keep sliding off to each side so if you move a bit to the middle of the bed you wake up chilly. Also, I keep getting my quilt tangled round my lower legs.

I really want this to work as it will make laundering much easier so I’m hoping for tips!

Oh yes two singles work well. Yes continentals have always had their own quilt, works a treat.

When duvets first came to the UK, about 50 years ago, I was told that continentals (do you remember, they were known as 'continental quilts') always had a single duvet each.

We've never done it but it seems like a good idea to me.

There's only me and I have a double bed and a double duvet! Hate it on holiday when I'm in a single with a single duvet. I like space to sprawl and enough duvet to snuggle into. (Sorry don't think that helps does it)

My Danish SiL always has single duvets and it is much easier to change the covers than wrestling with doubles . It's also nice to have your own duvet I found

For us it's definitely a douvet each ! If you have a king size bed you could have a double each. Two works well for us DH likes a larger tog than me, I prefer a lighter douvet.

I’ve seen it suggested that it’s easier for bedchanging and personal comfort to have two single duvets instead of one double duvet on the bed. We’re currently trying this with summer-weight duvets but I’m not yet convinced!

I’m sure there will be Gransnetters who’ve tried this and I’d love your thoughts, please.
