Third Sunday in Advent is soon enough for me The Advent candle and calendar are out and in use

rafichagran Fri 08-Dec-23 13:41:59

Not yet, two birthdays in December, so hope to go to the garden centre Sunday to pick a tree.

Spec1alk Fri 08-Dec-23 13:38:54

Not this year! We have a 16 week old kitten and she is crazy! So the decorations are staying in the storage box this year.

MrsKen33 Fri 08-Dec-23 13:32:02

Christmas tree up and decorated this morning, ready for my birthday.

This is my first posting on Gransnet as I became a gran for the first time this year. I live in a small house so unfortunately havn’t room for a tree, however, I do have lots of fairy lights and a mini metal hanger from which I hang Christmas decorations.

Everything looks lovely. I've got a few lights outside and the wreath on the door but nothing inside yet.

Cards are done, gifts are bought and wrapped, including for three December birthdays, but the tree will be brought in on Monday so that my daughter and granddaughter can decorate it with me. Last night I put out my nativity scene, the nutcracker, the mantelpiece garland, the front door ‘wreath’ (a homemade rag affair) and fairy lights around the porch door. Plenty more to do, but we’re in the middle of decorating the dining room, so it’s all a bit stressful.

However, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. 🎶🎵🎶

My youngest daughters birthday is today. The rule is no Christmas until after her birthday.

RosesandLilac Fri 08-Dec-23 12:47:46

No, minimalist me here. I might put the twiggy tree up but nothing else.
DH isn’t fussed and my record is decorations up Christmas Eve, down Boxing Day 😵‍💫

glammanana Fri 08-Dec-23 12:42:04

Mine go up to celebrate DS1s Birthday on the 15th always have done we always had a Birthd-day tea for him when he lived at home.
I will put up my outdoor tree lights over the week-end to dress up the drive way,

Davisuz Fri 08-Dec-23 12:32:17

No not me, I try and get everything else done first - cards, gifts, donations and early food prep before I put up the decorations. that way I can enjoy doing it and it doesn't add to the general Christmas stress!

Aldom Fri 08-Dec-23 12:21:01

Bessieb Wishing you a very happy birthday. flowers

Witzend Fri 08-Dec-23 12:10:39

Tree up, lights on, but we’re leaving the decorations for Gdcs, who will be staying from tonight until Sunday night.

I have my two ‘strings’ of robins up, though - bought ages ago from Past Times - they come out every year.

Here’s the tree so far (NB hippos have their Christmas ‘hats’ on) and the robins - I love my robins!

Tink75 Fri 08-Dec-23 12:08:17

Looks like Santas Grotto here!!

Mojack26 Fri 08-Dec-23 12:07:18

TillyTrotter Fri 08-Dec-23 12:03:34

I always have a Poinsettia - but can I keep it alive is the question ?????? It’s looking good for now.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 08-Dec-23 12:02:11

I will start when the tree arrives, but I’ve forgotten when it is coming😮. Might be today or next Friday🎄🎄🎄

TillyTrotter Fri 08-Dec-23 12:00:36

Loving your decorations around your fire Frenchgalinspain.
If your door wreaths are fresh greenery and homemade I am in awe of you kitty and Witzend.

Nannapat1 Fri 08-Dec-23 11:53:39

Yes, we started the last week of November. We have rather a lot of decorations and three trees. I want them to be up for a reasonable length of time before I have to remove them by 6 January and before my THR scheduled for 8 January.

harrigran Fri 08-Dec-23 11:25:52

None up yet as I am dependent on someone going in the attic to get the decorations down.

jaybee66 Fri 08-Dec-23 11:23:23

Not yet. Maybe next week. Both grown up daughters already have theirs up.

Glenfinnan Fri 08-Dec-23 11:13:08

Just doing them!! The lights work so that’s a good start!

AreWeThereYet Fri 08-Dec-23 11:12:31

A house near us has got a big blow up Santa Claus hanging from a bedroom window (looks like he is climbing in the window) and some blow up reindeer in the garden pulling a sleigh. Every morning we go out and the figures are all flat, like deflated balloons. They then get blown up again during the day and the next morning they are flat again. What a lot of effort 😧

Bessieb Fri 08-Dec-23 11:10:42

ginny I am in a similar position. It's my birthday today and I don't like having birthday cards and Christmas ornaments together. May start on the tree today though.
