Make-up brushes. What to do with them?

Skydancer, why don't you make an appointment with a make up artist, one that either works privately, or at a beauty counter.
They can give you all sorts of advice, and a bit of a lesson on what would work for you. Some hairdressing salons will have a make up artist.

I only have a few brushes; a fine angled one for eyeliner (I use a brown eyeshadow), a small rounded one for eyeshadow which only gets used for special occaisions, and a larger brush for powder. powder sunscreen in the summer is brilliant.

No primer for me... just day cream mixed in with tinted moisturizer for light coverage, and applied with my fingers. A little concealer under my eyes and a few dark spots.

I don’t use anything!

If primer means face cream then I apply that in the morning and then a light foundation. I use my fingers to do both. That's the sum total of my make up routine, unless I'm going somewhere special when I apply a bit of very subtle blusher with a brush. I only use products that are non animal tested.

I use primer sometimes. I use a Kabuki brush for powder foundation, fingers and a beauty blender sponge for liquid foundation. Brush for blending blusher/bronzer/highlighter.

YouTube has masses of videos for makeup, including older ladies - just search for 'over 50/60/70' or it will be all young girls applying more makeup in 5 minutes than I would wear in a year. I learnt a few tricks from makeup artist Wayne Goss for applying concealer.

Lordy! to be disciplined enough to use primer.

I do confess to cutting the tufty bits once the brushes start to get stubby!

I use brushes to apply, but fingers to blend in.

It's a massive industry I don't buy into. I do apply a primer under my moisturiser because it goes on better but I use my fingers just like I've always done.
I don't care how old people think I look.

I watch young Women on YouTube applying make up and am amazed by how much they put on, how long it takes and how their techniques are far from gentle on the skin. I am however a recent convert to foundation brushes and am really happy with the finish they give.

All I use is moisteriser, but the older I get the more I use, massaging it into my face and neck, first with my fingers and then with a small wooden ball roller.

I have a brush of blusher on my cheek bones as my natural colour is, and always has been, pale and (un)interesting. Touch of mascara and that is it. I have my eyebrows tinted and shaped every six weeks.

I rarely use foundation, just as rarely use eyeshadow, have never used primer, sun screen or anything of the other products mentioned.

People consistently assume I am much younger than I am, so what ever I do it is effectiv, but personally, I think most younger people have out of date stereotypes of how older people look at any specificc age.

If you watch the YouTube videos they will explain the brushes.
I use serum first then moisturiser then primer.
If you’re contouring you need different brushes.
For instance, you wouldn’t use the eyeshadow brush for your cheeks.

I use brushes to apply my foundation if I’m wearing it. It’s a mineral power foundation by Laura Geller. I use another brush to put a little blusher on and a different brush if I’m wearing eye shadow to apply that. I use a primer over my moisturiser if I’m wearing makeup that day, but not if I’m having a makeup free day.

I don’t like foundation but I use a primer after moisturiser and sunscreen. Look Fabulous Forever is brilliant at blurring lines and pores.

Cleanse, tone, moisturise and prime.
I then use a bare minerals powder foundation applied with a “Kabuki” brush, bronzer applied with a big soft brisk, a little blusher, smaller soft brush and then highlighter sometimes with a thin fan shaped brush and sometimes with my fingers.
It’s eyes and brows next with brushes again and lips…..no lip brush just my lipstick.
If I’m going out somewhere special I then finish with a mineral veil applied with a soft brush.

I’m not saying I look 20 years younger but I do think it makes me look a lot better!
