Home spy cameras

My son as just put in indoor security cameras they sit on the window sills (two on the front and one on the back) and you can move the camera around when you are out.
They have a memory card inside and record 24/7, I understand.
My son can check if everything is alright if we are away without coming to our home.
I have no idea how it works but he knows about these things.
We had them put in because when we were away last August someone tried to force our outside gate to get around the back of the bungalow.
They didn't manage it because the bolts held.
If this happened again we would have a recording of the person on the memory stick.
The three cameras were very inexpensive and you just plug them in so no installation,

Yes we do find the odd cat sets it off. We only have the beams in the cultivated part of the garden. The woodland area is completely animal proofed and any human that entered this area would have to be a mountain goat

We have cctv around our property plus laser type alarms set at night that emit an alarm sound if anyone enters our curtilage.

Wouldn't the alarm sound get triggered if an animal came into the garden as well? I think a lot of us have got visiting cats around the area...

Our cameras were from a company called Eufy. They are wireless and DH set them up himself.
They are a reliable company, we have other products from them.

We have security cameras all focused on our property indoor and outdoor entrance doors. They do not involve observation of our neighbours homes at all. We also have a doorbell security which is handy when expecting deliveries.
Our son fitted ours some years ago I have seen recently a security system advertised on TV easy to set up. I can’t remember the name but it is relatively cheap and I am told very reliable it might be worth looking into.

We have one at both our front and back doors. They are angled, so that they do not spy on our neighbours.

Unfortunately, I was once caught on camera saying a lot of naughty words about DH, who was trying to get it into the correct position.

I completely understand the concern about privacy with home spy cameras—it’s something I’ve thought about a lot too. My sister has them but they only add to her anxiety. When out or away she is forever checking them because she has parcels delivered all the time. I have heard her having horrible conversations with people whose job it is to deliver things to her home and whose services she has requested.
It isn't the sort of life I would choose to have.

We have several exterior security cameras covering strategic areas outside our house (we have been burgled in the past).

They are set up to alert us (on our mobiles, computers, tablets, if they are switched on) when they are triggered by 'human motion' during the day and all movement at night. They also take short recordings of anything that triggers them and we can also speak through them.

We set the areas we want to protect and also privacy zones so we cannot see anything our neighbours are doing.

The cameras need recharging from time to time (disable the anti-theft alarm before taking the camera down to recharge it).

The cameras rely on good WiFi signals and fast internet speeds.

We have had a couple of alerts at night when a spider crawled across a camera lens but mainly find them reliable.

Being able to speak to callers at the front door when you are miles away is very useful and you can see and record callers as well.

I have no experience of a camera inside a window though and the microphone would not work very well.
