Fixed rate energy tariffs

Has anyone changed to fixed rates recently?

My energy provider has just lowered my monthly payments by £67 as I had over £200 in credit and are offering a fixed rate which is slightly lower than what I am paying at present, but of course the tariffs might go down…..but the standard charge remains the same.

Look at the terms: my provider has no exit fee if you change to another tariff with the same provider. I changed to a fixed rate in April and changed again when a lower fixed rate tariff was later introduced - not liable to any penalty.

I have just signed up to a 12 month fix with Octopus

I fixed with eon last year, no exit fees and £50 below the cap.

Mine needs renewing soon so I’ve been checking rates, it looks like I will be staying with Octopus, their customer service is very good too.

I have a dual fuel fixed tariff with British Gas. I can change fixed tariffs with BG without penalty. I’ve changed twice this year from one fix to another. I’m keeping an eye and will change again if they introduce a better tariff .

I signed up to a 12-month dual fuel fixed tariff with e-on about 4 months ago. My monthly DD is now nearly £70 less than previously and I'm still in credit.

Mine will be renewed with Octopus soon. They wanted to lower my payment by £60 per month, but I felt that too low, so I’ve had a bit of a refund and met them halfway with a £30 reduction. Their App is so easy to use, I can make an additional payment or reduce my monthly payments virtually at will.
However, my current contract with them does carry a £75 per fuel charge for leaving early.

Yes, I signed up with So energy for one year. I've been with them for a while and I'm happy with the service and the prices!

I had two brilliant years with octopus fixed rate to nov 2023. I fixed again for 12 months, this time there is an exit charge so I have not bothered. I will probably go fixed rate again next november, I like the stability and I like octopus

I'm with British Gas, I thought that I'd wait until July when electricity prices are due to go down again, then opt for a fixed rate. They are due for another increase in October.
