Putting the heating on-or not

I would put my heating on if needed but I haven’t felt it’s been cold for a while. So it’s 14* outside now but in the house it’s 18* that doesn’t feel cold to me so I won’t be putting my heating on.
If you feel the cold then I agree put it on but we all have differing ideas of what feels cold or not.

Life is too short and even shorter with hypothermia!

I can understand wearing an extra layer or whatever, but if it’s that cold, just put the heating on.

I live in Scotland. The heating will go on when I need it. However, the costs of energy are ridiculously high, so I understand if people are more cautious about putting it on when, technically, it should be warmer

I put my heating on yesterday and a few other evenings previously. Having blue hands and feet and going to bed early is not my idea of a fun June but here we are wet and windy again today.

I think some people regard it as a challenge. I know of one person who did not put hers on till the 1st November every year and was very sanctimonious about it!

I remember thinking to myself……WHY?

First, let me say that if economy is the driving force, I totally understand why people will be cautious about using energy. However, I’m always baffled by comments like not putting the heating on during specific months. If there was an Indian summer in November when in the U.K. we would usually have heating on, surely we would lower it or turn it off should the house be above our chosen temperature. So similarly, if in June it’s about 13 degrees outside, why would we NOT turn it on? Why be uncomfortable just because it’s technically summer? Our thermostat is set to ideal (to us) temperatures during different times of day and it will come on or go off whatever the date. I frequently see comments here and elsewhere about resisting putting the heating on but I just don’t get it!
