Car tyres

A friend has lent me a gadget for inflating my car tyres. It's powered by plugging it in to the cigarette lighter.
Am I right in assuming it will use up the battery power if I don't have the engine running?

Yes, it will use battery power, so I always run the engine - just in case.

Yep run the engine while using it.

Not sure it uses that much battery power if you are just topping up your tyres - I don't run my battery while doing mine.

If you are just topping up it won’t drain the battery, pumping up a flat tyre its best to start the engine
