Change central heating from oil to electric?

To use electric you need really good insulation and a heat pump, for most existing properties it means dry lining to add insulation to the outside walls, so it is going to be very expensive.

Adding Solar panels will reduce your existing electricity bill but won’t be enough for heating, it has a very long payback period.

You local council may well have a warm homes scheme, its worth contacting them to see if you qualify.

Mybrother in law changed from gas to electric. I think it would be better if you have solar panels it can be expensive?

Has anyone decided to do this. I’m having so much trouble with oil boilers in a coastal house. I’m wondering if electric
heating would be safer and more efficient. Your views please.
