Hi. I’ve bought a new super king duvet and cover from M & S we’ve always had king size before so new to this. I put them on yesterday and the cover is 12inch bigger than the duvet.
I’m so disappointed with it, but can’t return it as it’s on my bed now. Anyone else had this problem?

I think you probably could return it. Have a look at the returns policy.

Is it possible it’s not a super-king duvet - in the wrong box?
As they’re both M&S, I’d ask in store about returning them.

Have you checked the measurements? According to their website the cover and duvet should both be 102x87" for Superking. King size is 89x87" so is it possible you have got a King size duvet?

I’m almost certain that you can return it to M&S Katyj presume you have a receipt or record of payment…

Ps. A super king sized cover on a king sized duvet will naturally have a lot of excess fabric 🤗

Hi. Thank you ladies. I looked on the website but couldn’t see the measurements, I’ll have another look. At least if it’s wrong I can take it back. What a palaver I’ll have to take the duvet out of the cover 🤪

If you go on the site, choose Bedding - Duvet covers & Bedding sets. Select a set. Scroll down past the options, add to bag, delivery and there is a box which says size chart.

I too had a similar experience with the duvet being double when I thought I had purchased a king.
The duvet was in a king sized box, but the box was open at the point of purchase. I returned the duvet to Rackham's and because the box was open when purchased, they exchanged the duvet for the correct
size. But I must emphasise, they were reluctant at first, until a manager became involved. The manager picked up on me repeatedly telling the assistant that the box was open when I purchased the duvet, thus allowing for an error to have been made with the size.

I bought a super king duvet from M & S two weeks ago, at the payment desk I was twice told that once it was opened it couldn’t be returned.

The lines on a super king duvet go side to side and not top to bottom as I found out.

Sorry if I’m teaching my granny to suck eggs. smile

I bought a king size fitted sheet for my new king size bed. Unfortunately there was a delay in the bed being delivered. When I tried the sheet it didn't fit and when I measured it I found it was a double size even though the label said king size. The shop was very reluctant to change it quoting it can't be changed once opened. I stood my ground and said it was faulty. A manager was called and reluctantly let me change it agreeing it was the wrong size. I would recommend measuring both the bed and the duvet when taking it back

Depth of mattresses vary enormously too.

Don't they just! Fitted bottom sheets always kept coming off the mattress in the night so I resorted to making my own - nice deep sides with plenty of fabric to tuck underneath.

Katyj. I hope you try my suggestion of turning the duvet 90 degrees so that the lines on the duvet are across and not up and down in the duvet cover.

Wow what a revelation. Thank you so much ladies especially LadyGracie. Who knew ! Is it just me being a bit dense, but we’ve never had super king before. Glad I didn’t take them back. blush

I find the subject of bedding totally confusing. There are so many different sizes of duvets and covers, so many tog ratings etc. I looked online for pillowcases only to find there are different sizes. I naively thought all pillows were the same size. Then there are valances which seem to be different to valance sheets. Some go under the mattress and some over it. Also I'd like pure cotton or linen but I don't want to iron. I've actually given up looking for the moment as I can't face it any more. Can one of you please come round and sort it out for me. smile

I was really pleasantly surprised to find a super king sized flat cotton sheet in Primark. It was lovely satin type cotton and just right for those (2 or 3) hot summer nights ..and it was cheap!

Glad you got this sorted. I took made this mistake. It does take a bit of remembering that the lines on the duvet go horizontally, occasionally I will still start to put it on the wrong way despite changing to a super king a year ago. I've just stripped the bed ready for its weekly change so hoping this will remind me to do it correctly today !

LadyGracie Fri 27-Sept-24 12:54:35

No you're not dense Katyj I bought a super king size duvet and covers about a year ago, I had to ask Mr Google in the end. I wonder why it doesn't give instructions on the duvet wrappings.

By DD and SiL had the same problem. I took my sewing machine along when I next visited and altered the duvet cover to fit thr duvet.

Gransnet to the rescue Katyj! 👍

You learn something new everyday! Agree they should mention it on the duvet box. Thank goodness for Gransnet.
