Filter on Bosch Washing Machine

My 9 year old Bosch washing machine has developed a mind of its own so I fear I must start thinking to replace it. The only thing stopping me from buying another Bosch is cleaning the filter, as no matter how hard I try and how much paper and kitchen roll I put down, water seems to go everywhere. I am considering a Samsung, and am wondering how filter cleaning goes with this make.

My recommendation would be to do as I have done. Buy the cheapest washing machine you can find in a reputable DIY store. Mine washes just as well as my former Siemens and cost a third of the price - it is 8 years old now and there has never been any trouble with it.

I have a shallow tray I place just under the filter door before opening - with 2 bowls cloths ang jugs ready to catch the escaped water -to protect the floor.i find removing the little bung from the drain tube difficult- especially so low on the floor! I can’t comment on Samsung as I have a Bosch also and hate cleaning the filter too!

You need to put it on a drain cycle. Then put a shallow dish underneath the filter and open it very slowly and release a little water at a time.
