My freezer has been a bit temperamental recently. I recently found ice at the bottom, even though it’s ice free. And the temperature drops sometimes. I must admit that I only recently read the instructions and it might be that I wasn’t giving it a boost when putting food in to freeze. It’s a Bosch upright and I can’t remember when I bought it but feel it must be at least thirty years old ( possibly much older). It’s in a heat free room so I can only replace it with a Beko as they can be stored in garages. I don’t want to buy a new one for the sake of it and logistically it will be difficult as it’s quite large and pretty full. The temperature rises sometimes but doesn’t happen often but, to my knowledge it never used to happen. It went up to -12 the other day and the alarm went off one day. Once I put it on boost and the temperature is back to -18 it’s fine. I go away for several weeks at a time and don’t want to come back to a mushy mess!I did think of buying a small chest freezer as back up but can only put that in the garage and I’m having ongoing problems with the garage as well. And it’s silly spending @£200 on a chest freezer when a new upright would be @ £450.
