Has anyone else got a freezer older than mine?

Mine also an upright Bosch, not quite that old, we bought it when we moved into our last house early 2001. It stands in the garage still doing its job for an old timer. It's our backup we have a newer fridge/freezer in the utility.

Old but not that old - 2009

I have a old Zanussi under counter freezer. I bought it from my friend. I know she bought it the year my son was born, he was 37 last week. It's a tatty looking thing, but has lived in my garage for 35 years and still going strong (fingers crossed) it's an old friend.

It is estimated that a freezer that is 10-15 years old will be using 35% more electricity than a more up to date one.

If you have look at the consumption when it’s on.
Then there’s the problem that if you’re not at home when it gives up the ghost you’ve lost all that food. Not forgetting the smell and mess.

We have an American style fridge freezer in the garage which is 28 years old.

The fridge is used for beer and wine, the freezer is also full, as it’s more economical to run than a partially full one.

I was very upset when we returned from holiday a few years ago to discover that my chest freezer had stopped working and I had to throw out all of the contents, I'd only had it for 37 years.

"It’s in a heat free room so I can only replace it with a Beko as they can be stored in garages".........MayBee, that used to be the case some years ago but other manufacturers now make freezers that can be used in outbuilding - just check online .

I have an under counter freezer in my garage that is almost 30 yrs old I’m about to get rid of it as I’m moving house but it still works fine we bought it just after we got married.

I recently had to look this up as I needed to order a new drawer for the freezer. We bought it in 1992.

Bought ours from Iceland ( the shop ) in 1987 - it’s in the garage and working fine

Temperature rose on it again yesterday. Ok again now. I think I have to buy a new one. Trouble is I’m replacing a Bosch, which would probably cost over £1,000 now with a Beko that’s £400 and I hate throwing out anything that still has life left in it. Having said that, my son’s fridge/freezer has been leaking and I’ve nagged him for ages to replace it, so need to take my own advice. I’ll keep the old one in the garage because I can store loads of stuff in it ( although is there a danger from the gas that’s in them ?).

I have a small chest freezer which is very old now . It is made by Norfrost which I know very little about and was given to me by DS twenty five years ago when he was buying a larger one. I can’t say how old it is as he must have had it for several years beforehand.It has always performed very well but it won’t go on forever so I always have a small bit of space in my fridge freezer to house the most expensive items when that day happens.

Yes ours in the garage is definitely over 30yrs old.
