M & S have a cleaning product range which is odour free.

What kind of floor do you have?

A steam cleaner will treat most surfaces. Only uses water.

aGrannyGravy13, thanks I will look for this.

JackyB, I just bought one! with a triangular swivel head

Yes, steam cleaner’s are the way to go, in my opinion.

Another vote here for steam cleaners

steam is no good on laminate, it weakens the glue and ruins the floor

I think it depends on what type of floor it is. We have Karndean and Amtico flooring in the hall, kitchen and bathroom and have been told by the floorers who installed it not to use steam cleaners as it loosens the bond with the floor beneath (even it has been specially prepared or screeded.) Steam mops are brilliant on porcelain/ceramic tile flooring. Definitely not on wood!

Steamer and Shark is best of 3 I've had for use on vinyl and ceramic tiles. I use a bit of liquid floor cleaner in a spray bottle for added effect on tough bits.

I have a steam cleaner use only on the ceramic tiles and no need to add anything other than water never on the laminate. We've been through this before re steam cleaners. Would you use steam to clean wooden, laminated furniture, laminated kitchen surfaces, very much doubt it.Agree should not be used on Amtico AskAlice. Use a damp mop on laminate, never wet.

Robovac with mopping device. Only uses water and , because it's so easy to just use every day, this is perfectly adequate. No visiting dogs yet though ..........

Whilst not recommended for laminate flooring, and depending on the quality and standard of application, the level,of heat and the amount of contact time required to affect the adhesion is far in excess of normal, use, therefore, with care, steam cleaner is ideal for laminate flooring. I used mine for over 15 years almost daily use with dogs with no detrimental affect my previous kitchen. Xxx

I use Lemon Flash. Diluted in water with mop and bucket .
Lovely to use for washing all sorts of surfaces.

Gorgeous scent too.

Method floor cleaner. Squirt it straight on the floor and mop, no bucket or water required. Smells divine. 2 types with one specifically for wood floors smells of almonds. The other comes in lemon or rhubarb and is suitable for all other floor types although I have used it to spot clean our sealed laminate floor with no adverse effects. Not cheap but a little goes a long way and the wood floor version I have just discovered can be bought in a 2 ltr refill pack. I discovered it when our elderly spaniel became incontinent and after washing any accidents with soap and disinfectant I then went over it with method to take away the disinfectant smell. I use a micro fibre mop the pads go straight in the washing machine. I’ve had 2 steam mops but being in a hard water area they don’t last long for me.

My steam mop broke in the end, and I didn’t replace it. I always thought it left the floors looking very dull. I do like Method. Like the smell and they leave the floors looking good. But feel that it’s poor environmental practice to buy ready diluted products. Use this across ceramic and wood floors.

The OP asked for scent free, mop squeezed so it’s damp for me and water only on Karndean, no pets

Shantygirly Sun 23-Mar-25 07:13:11

I use a squirt of washing up liquid and a dash of bleach my mop bucket, always wring the mop out really well, does laminate, vinyl and skirting boards in one go. Not too smelly in my opinion and one less bottle to buy.

I use a steam mop on my ceramic tiled floor ,

So what is the best way to clean a laminate floor.

I use a traditional string head mop and bucket and the Kardean cleaning solution that the floor fitter gave me........job done.
