I would like to replace my carpets … but can’t move my furniture myself… has anyone had experience of perhaps asking the carpet suppliers if I pay for an ‘extra’ man to help with this!

We’ve had all our flooring replaced in the last two years by a local family owned company.

Our supplier willingly sent an extra person to move furniture. We were asked to remove contents eg of a display cupboard, which we could do. It did cost a little more but was well worth it. Everything was handled very carefully, the fitters ensured it was all put back exactly as we wanted it. Very easy indeed

It certainly can happen glenfinannan. Hope it all works out.

I use a local firm who do this. If you ask around, perhaps you could find one near to you.

We are just in the process of purchasing a new carpet. We have gone to a small, local firm and told them we have a heavy Victorian table, bookcase and desk. The gentleman came to have a look and said they could manage with those and the heavy sofa etc. We have to empty the bookcase and take out as many of the small things as possible. The quotation we have been given seems very reasonable and includes this lifting.

Sometime the carpet fitters will move furniture as they do the job.
Ours was a small one off shop who was fab. He was with us for a week and did it all. Great job. We have also used a local man with a van chap. Asked him if he would move stuff around for us and the cost. Two of them came and were great too. I’m heading towards 80’s so I couldn’t do it!! Good luck !

We also had a massive chest of drawers and large sofa.
We took the drawers into the kitchen and they did the rest.
Charged for the 2nd man.
Upstairs they moved two single beds.

I'm pretty certain a local firm will do it.

Hope you find a good one.

We got carpets from tapi and paid extra for help moving the furniture. The men were really helpful and all sorted no problem.

I used a local carpet shop and I explained when I went it that I couldn't move the furniture and they said that's always included in the price. All they ask is that you empty any cupboards and drawers. You'll probably find independant shops are more likely to agreeable in moving furniture for you.

Glenfinan - yes they will definitely move the furniture around- it’s part of their job. You can always give them a little extra once they’ve done the job.

Most good carpet shops offer a " premium" service so that you can pay extra for the fitters to move furniture for you.
