New Mattress

We're going to treat ourselves to a new mattress. I've been considering the Premier Inn 2.0, as Premier Inn beds are so comfortable and the Simba Hybrid Essential. I'd love to hear from Gransnetters who have either of those mattresses to help us decide.

I have exactly the same question, so await the replies with anticipation!

Meant to say, I have a Simba (not hybrid essential) and it’s awful, so I am already swinging towards the Premier Inn one.

The Premiere Inn beds are not actually the same as the ones you sleep on in the Premiere Inns.
They were made by the same people (Hypnos) but to a lower spec with a shorter guarantee.

This is from a mattress site:

Hypnos are no longer partnered with Premier Inn, but when they were, Premier Inn used an undisclosed, unnamed Hypnos pillow top mattress.

If you’re looking for that same Premier Inn Hypnos feeling, we’d recommend taking a look at the following pillow top Hypnos mattresses:
Hypnos Leamington Pillow Top Sublime Mattress
Hypnos Fairford Pillow Top Supreme Mattress

Just looked and they are now getting Silentnight to make their domestic beds.

I would look at Hypnos personally.

There’s a good list of different best mattresses on the telegraph website

I wouldn't choose an open coil personally and wouldn't think the Aerocoil® can be as stable as pocket springs.

I don't know your budget but open coil is usually the cheapest type and Hypnos now does a "Pillowtop Hotel Mattress" which is cheaper than most of the other Hypnos ones and might be a good place to start?

I wouldn’t buy a mattress without lying on it first. Mattresses respond differently to individuals weight and if it is for two people to sleep on.

J52 no I like to test one first too - but the good thing about having at least some (800+? in a double) pocket springs is that they each work individually.

I bought one online several years ago. It is memory foam but I don't remember the brand.
It is one of those you can return once you've tried it.

I love it and wouldn't buy anything else now.

Just going for the brand names is not always the answer.

Premier Inns had just changed from Hypnos when we bought our Hypnos bed.
I must say we're very happy with it but I'm not sure which one it is.

We bought a Tempur bed base and memory foam mattress about 20 years ago, it was expensive but it has been wonderful, we are now considering updating it for another Tempur base and mattress. Son and DIL bought an Emma mattress a few years ago and it was not good for them it was very uncomfortable and hot, they sold it after about six months.

Dd and SiL bought a Tempur one but found it far too hot. Only had it for about a month before selling it on.
Worth adding that Dd has inherit dh’s inner central heating though!

I stayed in a Premier Inn in Cambridge recently - the most expensive type of room they have, and was disappointed - mattress not soft enough and pillow definitely not soft enough.
Put me off any future stays at a Premier Inn.
