Engineer said they are set to last ten years- probably dumb down like the smart phones. Our Indesit washer lasted 22 yrs- still worked but fed up looking at it, bought Siemens, lasted 2.5 yrs. now have Bosch series 6. Better last!

Fingers crossed I'll be okay with the Bosch washing machine I bought as a replacement for another one recently. So far...so good. I think they're still made in Germany?
I think the previous one must have been 20 years old or more and had had lodgers using it (ie that would have been in the 1980s then). I reckon I could probably have carried on with it for a bit yet - but replaced it because its appearance had deteriorated (ie bits of rust showing). Having bought it in my early 70's (the age I am now) then I am expecting it to see me out - even if I got unfortunate enough to have a longer than expected life and stayed alive putting up with that.
Bosch is not a 100% guarantee of course - as I've recently had to replace a Bosch kettle and toaster (if I remember the brand aright...) - which were only about 3 years old and not a happy bunny about that...and did deliberately buy a different brand there (as I certainly expect at least 10 years from even "smaller" items - or I think I've been diddled).
Always bought Bosch washing machines and tumble dryers and their dishwashers and never had a problem with any of them. present set of appliances have had for 14 yrs.
If a washing machine isn’t pumping out 99% of the time it’s the pump. If you can, take the back off and you will see the pump. You will be able to dismantle that. It’s not precise engineering it’s a lump of plastic. I first did this over 50 years ago through necessity, money 😂 Basically washing machines are very basic machines. As a challenge we kept one going for 22 years.
This must be a new thing because I bought a Bosch washing machine some years ago. Served me well for over eight years but when I moved house I left it behind as the new place required an integrated washing machine. The owners of my old place used it for another five to six years before it finally packed up. It never let either of us down and we both cleared the impeller drain out regularly……..it’s surprising what collects in there and it does stop washers pumping out.
I haven't bought Bosch for years since their appliances let me down in the past. When the engineer does turn up, he probably won't have the right part.
2nd time it’s done the same thing, not draining properly, water all over the floor. Just when I’ve got 3 young Gdcs staying. And the official service people can’t come until next Tuesday. 🤬
