Is there an easy way to get the sticky stuff off jars after you’ve soaked the labels off?

Apart from a sharp knife and steel wool?
Yes, I’ve just made a load of chutney from DD’s windfalls.
Thanks, if anybody knows!

There always was stuff called Sticky stuff remover works a treat if you soak a bit of tissue and but it on the offending label
The tissue stops it running all over the place

Lakeland used to sell Sticky stuff remover, and might still do. If not, you’ll surely find it either an online search. It’s amazing stuff.

I've used nail polish remover and having run out - baby oil to get the sticky residue off .

A cheap moisturiser - or vaseline and use plenty of elbow grease.

WD40 or Avon Skin so Soft if you want a nicer smell.

I used to use nail varnish remover but never have any now due to not wearing nail varnish! then during covid found hand sanitiser gel does it! great for using up all those bottles we have lying about when we all went mad buying it!
