Kitchen cabinets

Personally, I think gloss shows every mark. We have gloss cabinets in the bathroom and they seem to have a vinyl gloss overlay which has cracked on a couple of doors (they weren't cheap)

Our new kitchen has matte finish doors and they seem, so far, to be easy to wipe clean.

Maybe take a trip to A kitchen showroom, B&Q, Wickes, IKEA where you can touch the units and see all the products.

Thank you Allira , yes I have a gloss unit in the bathroom, I didn't think of that🙄 and the top is lifting in the corner, should have remembered that, right that my mind made up matte it is. Plain light colour

I have high gloss units in my kitchen, very easy to keep clean.

I have also had the tiny cracks appearing in a high gloss finish.
Actually anything shows imperfections as time goes by.
My cabinets are overdue for replacing but won’t get done now.

I also have high gloss cabinets, installed 8 years ago and no problems. They just need a spray and quick wipe with a dry cloth. Mine don't have handles, and I always open cupboard doors using the lip at the bottom, if that makes sense, so no visible finger marks are left. OH, on the other hand, leaves his prints everywhere!

I'm on the fence with this. I chose a non gloss finish recently for a new kitchen, but I still get smears on the fridge and larder cupboards.

This is because :
a) they are a dark blue colour
and
b) I chose tiny knob handles on the big doors which was not a good idea because somehow people tend to smear their paws around them.
I think touch opening might be even more of a mistake.

The cupboards do look smart though.

I have the high gloss ones in a light blue an they do show fingerprints but they are easy to wipe clean, I just wish other people in my house would do that too

escaped, we stayed in a house that had dark blue shaker style and they got fingermarks round the knobs too

Yes I had a white gloss kitchen several years ago and they show every grease mark and every finger print. I have since had two shaker style kitchens which are spray painted.
Incidentally, if you just want to change your doors and dont need new carcasses, there are companies that do replacement kitchen doors or will give your gloss ones a respray.

Robin 202, Thank you for suggesting new doors but we moved in a few years ago and it needs to be replaced to what I want, I want to re-jig things , plus there is the old central heating boiler to be taken out, our Gas Fitter said to leave it at the time as it would possibly disrupt the other wall units next to it.

I have white high gloss cupboards. I'm obviously not as fussy as everyone else because I don't worry about the marks 😂 A quick spray and a wipe and they're gone. They're over eight years old and still look like new. I usually wipe down a couple of cupboards every time I clean up the kitchen, doing the ones that are showing marks, and they still look good. Our kitchen can be a bit dark unless the sun is shining and the white reflects more light around.
