How often do you clean your wooden engineered flooring

Best to ask your floor fitters, we have great advice from ours for the LVT we had fitted.

I am mopping it with a wet mop almost daily as we have builders and plasterers in. I damp the mop and then let it dry. So far ithas stayed ooking as good as new. It was only laid in September. Probably been mopped about a dozen times.

I sorry I don’t use special cleaners just a damp not wet mop and floor cleaner on my tiled floors and engineered wooden floor. I don’t buff or polish it. I do it once a month as it really doesn’t get very dirty, shoes off at front and back doors. It still good as new.

We use a damp mop or cloth on our wooden floor which we had laid about four years ago. It’s mainly by the front door. Apart from vacuuming the floor needs very little attention.

My hardwood floors have been down for 25 years. They get a mop every few weeks if I notice paw prints from visiting dogs. I just use water and a mop.

I'll be following this with interest - as I've not long given up on the replacement hall carpet I bought - ie once I'd discovered it kept accummulating bits on it and felt like it needed hoovering daily (those patterned 1980s carpets did serve some purposes then....).

So I sweep my new hall engineered wood flooring/think how much better an idea it is and wonder what/if else I should be doing to clean it.

Will be picking up ideas here...

Our parquet floor was getting shabby after 30 yrs so we got it sanded and resealed with industrial sealer, that is a very hard wearing surface that does not show any marks and doesn’t get polished or buffed
Best of all it didn’t cost much to do.

Any kind of wood flooring is not going to be flood resistant at all, we have plastic strip flooring in the kitchen it looks good and would be pretty much water resistant

I use a damp mop weekly and also Method almond wood floor cleaner as & when.

Whenever I think it needs it .

I also use a damp mop with wood cleaner solution in the bottle on the stick. Seems to work.

I do exactly the same, though I prefer the Method lemon and ginger one! 😊

I’m another who uses Method Almond wood floor cleaner, this is after a hoovering. This seems to work well.

We only ever hoover it.

I also use the Method Almond wood cleaner about once a month, otherwise just a vacuum and damp mop over it.
Didn’t know they did a lemon and ginger must look out for it as not so keen on almond smell

A lightly damp mop every couple of weeks or whennit looks as though it needs it. Method almond wood cleaner every now and then because I love the smell

I use wooden floor wipes about once a month. Supermarket own brand, they are cheap, do a good job and they have a pleasant smell.

I just flash map with those wet disposable cloth things at least one a week.

I’ll have a sniff of the lemon & ginger when I next buy a bottle Dempie55.

I also use this mop and the associated solutions, but like others we don’t wear outdoor shoes inside so it doesn’t need washing often, except under the dining table and in the downstairs hall. I’ve never washed the bedroom floors, they just get vacuumed. We have the same engineered oak planks throughout except for the kitchen and bathrooms.
Our current floors have a good quality branded synthetic seal but in our last house we used hard wax oil and I prefer that richer finish. Sadly it doesn’t work in a dining room or where anything greasy might be splashed or spilt. That finish did need a more specialised cleaning product but it worked so well that we rarely needed to use it. I’m sometimes tempted to have a washable rug under the dining table so that we could have the floor reseated with the hard wax finish.

For the comments saying with damp mop are you using water it's just I was told not to use water?

For the comments using a wood cleaner do you buff after moping and is there a build up of product, for eg making the floor darker?

I do use plain water but ensure the mop is squeezed right out. The Method almond treatment doesn't need buffing. I just fill the bottle thing which is attached halfway up the mop stick and spray n go.
