How often to mop?

If they don't stain, they have done protection on them, I would mop infrequently, but dust them once ir twice a week.

There is a vileda mop which you use with a spray so you aren't wetting the floor too much. Love mine.
I spray a patch of the floor, mop it then on to the next bit.

In our last house our upstairs floors were variously pine, elm and oak. In 30 years I never once mopped them, but I vacuum cleaned weekly.

I agree with MOnica. After all, if these areas were carpeted they would never be mopped. The kitchen is different of course!

What about using one of those dry Swiffer Mops with the fasten on 'cloths' that collect all dust. I find they work very well and then you may only feel the need to mop less regularly.

Mop as often as you think fit . As far as I know there are no rules .😊

It’s getting no more dirty than a carpet would and we don’t clean them every week.I would vacuum personally as often as you would normally and go over briefly with a just damp mop or similar, maybe every six weeks….or more if I could see stains on it.

Where do you buy Bona from *Ziplok. It’s so expensive where I live, so I only vacuum but it looks really beautiful when I used to use the recommended liquid cleaner.

Two or three times a week for laminate (Amtico) in kitchen, hall, laundry and cloakroom, with Method spray floor cleaner and e-mop (flat sort from Lakeland)

Wooden floors in two bedrooms and play room, damp mopped weekly with method wood floor cleaner.

I wash my oak floor and laminated kitchen floor twice a week with a weak solution of flash floor cleaner and a small dash of disinfectant. We have 2 dogs so it's necessary. No problems with a mop and bucket with mop rung out so it's damp not wet.

Legend has it that the Elizabethans only washed their floors once a year whether they needed it or not.

I have varnished wooden floors and wash them in warm soapy water at differing intervals depening on the use of the room they are in.

The sitting-room floor is washed twice or three times a year. The upstairs floors, bedroom, toilet, passage and study one a month and the kitchen floor fornightly.

The wash-kitchen and hall floors are tiled, and they and the bathroom's terasso floors are washed every week or ten days.

In my opinion, vacumming removes dust - it does not combat germs. Only hot water will do that to a certain extent.

Another one who uses Bona, fabulous stuff. I've had the one bottle a couple of years now but then I'm not a regular mopper, apart from my stone kitchen floor and that not with Bona.
Maybe three times a year for the wooden floors...

Weekly for the wood , laminate and tiles. I have dogs and keep a mop by the back door for necessary quick cleaning of muddy paws from the garden

Correction....floor dries in seconds, not minutes.

I use Bona hardwood floor cleaner. I bought the kit which includes a mop with a detachable washable pad. You spray the floor with the cleaner and then mop with the pad,. The slightly damp floor dries in minutes.

When we had our wooden floors installed, we were given a bottle of special wooden floor cleaner (Bona hardwood floor cleaner) and told to use it once a year (spray it on and mop it dry with a dry floor mop, after vacuuming first to collect any dust), and in the meantime, dry mop to collect dust and vacuum weekly. This seems to do the trick.

Tortoiselover the floors were laid by the previous owner so I’ve no clue if they sealed. I mop the tiles downstairs weekly I like your plan MOnica 🤣 I’d love to go with that but I thing 2/3 monthly will be sufficient. Thanks

I used a special mop for my wooden floors in our last home, I bought an excellent wooden floor cleaner in bulk when we went to France.
I mopped upstairs fortnightly.
Downstairs is always mopped weekly.

I use Osmo Wash and Care floor cleaner on mine once a week. Never use harsh floor cleaners on it. Osmo keeps it looking new like new. Yours will almost certainly be sealed with something, mine is waxed. If it's not, it will be very porous and stain easily and you would usually have been advised to put a finish on it after being laid.

I read a thing today about cleaning for 'busy' people and it suggested mopping once a week. I have to say I do it less than that
